My XP does the same graphics sync issue, What do I do?

All my songs the graphics run 2 seconds slower than the music, I have XP pro installed. Any advice? Fast dual core computer with fast 1g video card?

Have you tried all the suggestions in this Thread, as well as the recommendations in the Manual? There are many variables, including how many & what type of programs you are running in the background. There are also Options in the Tools Menu to make changes to Hoster according to your particular needs.

Not that but thanks,

I don't think it's any of those, I have a 1gb video card- 4Gb of ram and a terabyte hard drive with 750gb used and nothing in the background. It's a dual core cpu, maybe service pack 3? It seems like vista problems but either was MTU should fix this, I found two others with same problems, they just went back to 3.4? Wow! I'm not to happy and tonight I have to get razzed again by my customers. Thanks for replying!!!! It's nice to know there is a world out there listening! Thanks!

I have the same issues. You are not alone. Too bad nobody really believes us! For better or worse I'm now stuck with Hoster.

Definitely, check to be sure it's SP3, if you don't know. Did you do all the updates prior to installing 4.06? Please note my specs aren't as impressive as yours, but 4.06 is working OK on my Vista. Sometimes computers just need to be "tweaked". I also find that my music, as well as my videos, play better using the "Old Player".

Yikes!! Do you have Xp or Vista

Do you have Xp or Vista? I have XP pro service pac 3...
Thanks for Writing!

I read a Post from Marklewood where he replied to you. I don't see your response.
Not only do we believe but we've been there too & that's why all the different suggetions. Unfortunately, there is no magical solution that fixes everyone's problems, since all computers are not created equal.

Sorry....... since you stated "seems like Vista problems", I thought that meant you have a Vista machine. ...my mistake:s
I still recommend "tweaking" your system accordingly. You didn't mention if you made any changes availabe under "Tools" or if you are using the Old or New player. Just having the BIGGEST of everything does not guarantee that everything works likeyou want it to right out of the box!

True, but it seems that at least a few people with machines running well above the minimum specs are having similar issues. That to me seems like it's a Hoster problem. I just wasted $130 on a new video card and am not going to continue spending money to far exceed minimum specs. Everything worked fine as soon ago as 4.3.

Most Hoster problems are related to the individual computer. People are offering advice the best they know how in response to the details you give them. That's the best anyone can do. If the $130 new card didn't solve your problem, then you should be able to return it and get a refund.

If you would have patience and give specific details, there are people on this Forum who will go to great lengths to help Hoster work for you too!:) 4.06 is working for most people with a few glitches which are being worked on by MTU as we speak; and bug fixes will be in the next free update.

Out of several thousand users the few of you have this problem and you can say it is a Hoster problem?
The question here is what else do you have running in the background? Anti-virus? Network, wireless or wired? Anti-spyware? Sound card programs?
Have you checked to see if there are any new updates for software or hardware from Microsoft in the Custom Updates?

Gerri, we are now testing 4.10 Beta 3... love to see your results. :)

Having a "capable" video card is a REQUIREMENT. Don't take it back!

As Dale and Skybird74 have pointed out, there are thousands of users running Hoster 4 in sync.

Truly, truly, truly... I wish there was ONE magic fix for everyone, but that simply isn't the case. Here is the new "computer requirements" I'm adding in the Hoster 4.10 manual right now (the table is way down below :r)
<table width="85%" align="center" border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="10">
<tr>
<td width="80%"><strong>Computer Requirements</strong></td>
<td width="20%" align="center" colspan="2"><strong>All Hoster Models</strong></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>Windows XP Pro/Home + SR3 or higher</strong>, not Windows 98/ME/2000. Hoster can run with Service Pack 2, but it is always recommended to use the latest Service Pack release, which at present is SP3.</td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>Windows Vista + SR1</strong>. Install ALL upgrades when released.</td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>Microsoft Media Player V9 or higher for XP, V11 for Vista</strong>. WMP9 uses less system resources that may allow a slower computer to run Hoster better. Hoster uses WMP to display the graphics/lyrics/video screens to play still and motion video graphics formats supported by WMP.</td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>DirectX 9.0b or higher</strong> - Windows XP and Vista require this to run. See this <a href="#FireEventsScriptError">Troubleshooting Guide</a> to enable DirectX to run Hoster correctly and avoid the &quot;Fire Events From Script Line 40&quot; error.</td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>Microsoft Internet Explorer</strong> - XP needs IE6 or higher, Vista includes IE7 (click your Start button then &quot;Windows Updates&quot; and select CUSTOM [not Express])

Hoster 4.0x uses Internet Explorer to display the Show Display and the Preview Display.</td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>Computer RAM</strong> - Hoster can run with less memory, but Windows performance will suffer and some functions may take longer to execute. RAM is cheap and makes your computer run better.</td>
<td align="center">WinXP - 1GB
2GB Recommend
Vista - 2GB
3GB Recommend</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>Processor Speed</strong> - Hoster can run on 1GHz processors, but Multiplex Key Change and Tempo Change all at the same time may require more. We recommend running with a 2GHz or faster processor since Hoster 4.xx uses the latest technologies for maximum professional appearance. Celeron and AMD processors are prone to losing audio-lyrics sync as they get hotter. Some lower end laptop's power supply does't have enough power to keep everything running correctly. DO NOT even upgrade to a faster processor as this has been proven to over-stress the power supply.</td>
<td align="center">2GHz+</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>Graphics Card/Chip Performance</strong> - This may be THE most important component for Hoster 4 to run with lyrics-audio in sync. Get a card with at least 128MB ON-BOARD MEMORY!</strong>
ATI's <strong>128MB HyperMemory</strong> card is misleading as it only has 32MB on-board memory, and it &quot;borrows&quot; the rest from slower Computer system RAM, with inferior performance. Find a card that has at least <strong>128MB ON-BOARD MEMORY</strong>, and 256MB or more is better.</td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>A Network/Ethernet port or card</strong> - The computer must be connected to the Internet to install and register Hoster, but not to run.</td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>A sound port or card</strong> - One stereo output port is required. If you have two stereo ports, you can listen to songs through headphones while playing a show with the Search dialog <strong>Preview Play</strong>.</td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><a NAME="DualDisplay"></a>
<strong>A dual display card</strong> - <em>Highly recommended to reduce stress and pressure on you!</em></td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><a NAME="DualDisplay"></a>
<strong>1024 x 768 display resolution</strong> - Highly recommended for maximum efficiency.</td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>A CDG Capable Reader Drive</strong> - <a href="http://www.mtu.com/basics/karaokecdr.htm" target="_blank">MTU CDG Certified Burners</a></td>
<td align="center">Yes</td>
</tr>
</table>

Although not on Hoster, I have found that working with other DJ programs that are video intensive that having a mega-sized gaming video card is not always the answer either. Sometimes it is a combination of many variables working together in a computer. I do know that some of those "very high-end" gaming video cards require directX9.0 Nov. 2008 version, for example. Sometimes a video driver doesn't interact properly with some other driver or some other variable. It's really a complex issue.

You definitely didn't waste your $$ on this card. This is EXACTLY the type of card I would suggest. You still didn't answer my previous reply as to hard drive space and what other programs you are running. We have seen a recent issue with AVG that I wouldn't have expected. When it was finally narrowed down to AVG, the simple fix was to exclude Hoster from AVG's checks. This is the kind of thing we are trying to pry out of you. There are lots of people here who are trying to help, but we are not in front of your computer. Since this is such an isolated problem we need your input to determine if it is a particular hardware/software issue with your particular setup, or it is something that was missed in the testing and can be fixed with code in Hoster. We are all trying to achieve the same goal here, making your setup run flawlessly. PLease help us to help you.

:) Under the tools menu there is an offset setting for Auto mode. Mine was set to 1 and was causing an out of sync issue. I set it to 0 and have not had a problem since. I am sure you have probably already checked that but just in case....

This was removed in version 4 so that isn't a factor or choice. It would not work with the newly written players.

hwheeler43 December 10th, 2008 12:44 PM

:) I have 4.06 and there is a setting for Auto Offset, it is named differently from the older versions and I believe is for the Auto mode only. However, it caused me an issue until I set it to 0 and I mostly use manual mode, except when playing regular music. Cannot remember the name of it and do not have Hoster in front of me now, but it is there. Somewhere under the Tools menu if I am remembering correctly. You know I do tend to forget things though.

ddouglass December 10th, 2008 02:09 PM

That is not an off-set. That is the delay time between songs in Auto mode. Set it to 5 and you will have a 5 second delay between songs if you are using the Auto.

hwheeler43 December 10th, 2008 04:51 PM

:) Sounds reasonable. I do know that I had an issue on two nights where the lyrics got out of sync. I changed that setting from 1 to 0 and have run in sync for several weeks since then. Might be something for folks to check. I know it should not affect it, but.....
