Updates

All updates custom and express are down loaded except an office 2007 that I don't have on my computer.

I am going to acer to see if there are any drivers that I need to download. Maybe I something missing there.

Normally they haven't. It looks like Vista has added info related to security and permissions but all the normal info is there as well. If that attribute info is not visible it might indicate something related to permissions, however the fact that Hoster can read the file when building the database but not when playing the song makes me question if that's the problem. (unless playing the file is considered "executing", since that's a selection in the security details.)

dhkluesner@clas, since you can play video but not kma it might be worth your while to open the properties on each and compare the security details to see how/if they are different.

I don't know about everyone else, but I am going to trash Vista. I have two Toshiba laptops and the Windows XP machine with 1 gb of memory will let me multi task while doing a show and never has an audio dropout or anything. The Vista machine with 1.5 gb of memory has audio dropouts and I have disabled all the services possible. I sincerely hope that you can get your machine to work, but it really seems to be a Vista issue.

True, but it's not just Vista alone. I use XP Home. I never got Vista, and downloaded Internet Explorer 7. I immediately had issues, trashed it after a lot of frustration, and reinstalled IE 6, and everything went back to normal.

I'm assuming (bad word) IE 7 is bundled with the Vista package, so who knows which is causing what:?

Others have reported installing IE 7 with no problems, just as some have done well with Vista. I do know my state has not gone for Vista and has also directed all their agency computer support staff not to install IE7.

The best solution?

I think I am going to solve my problem by converting back to XP. Since laptop is new, will I have to purchase it or is there a round about way and still be legal?

I have searched microsoft, but believe it or not there are no instructions to convert back to xp.

Help please.

Karoake Kween:?

One you will have to purchase XP to do that. EBay is a good place to look for that.
Two, as Bob said you will need a set of XP drivers for the various components of the laptop and the manufacturer's website is the best place to look for them.

:) Another thing I found very helpful was having a high speed internet connection (Wired) to connect to during the install of XP. I bought my oem copy through Amazon. I think it cost about 89 dollars. You might do better on ebay. I researched by doing google searches and had most of the needed drivers before I started the XP install. After the install there were about 80 windows updates and there were a few drivers to install. the whole process took a couple of hours. I have been using this laptop as my primary show machine for several weeks and it works great!

issue finally resolved

I just wanted to let you know that I finally resolved the issue. I used my desktop to copy all my cd's onto an external hard drive. I then figured out the merge files and whala.

On March 8th I ran an opry show from Hoster from my laptop. They thought I was a technological genius but little did they know that it was Hoster, LOL.

Thank you for such a great program!
