:r :) 2/3 's of us are 50 and over, sheesh!
|
That is odd
I know a lot of the folks from military who have retired from the military and been karaoke hosts in their retirement time. Might be an explanation for the age group.
I personally fall into the 30ish group. But I intend to make this part of my retirement plan. Already have the business started and why not keep it going. Jon Monolith Entertainment |
Age
Well I started KJ'ing in 2000. Before that I was singing on and off for a few years. I am now in my mid forties.
I started my own show in 2003, and play mostly service organizations like the American Legion and the Moose. While they don't pay as much as private clubs and restaurants, the work is steady. Plus the crowds tend to be more my age or older. |
unbelievable
I am 42 started karaoke at about 39. my husband is 31 started at 28. I thought I was getting to old for this , I was starting to get depressed. thanks everybody for encouraging me!!!! I feel young again.

Owning everything
Mad Jim,
I don't feel like I own everything! but I'm tryin! Isn't that a song by Trace Adkins? ADMIN NOTE: I removed the Q&A about amps as you started another thread on this. We enforce staying on topic in a thread. :w |

This is a most interesting Thread and Poll. It fits what we see as our user "population", and the comments are cool to read. :)
However... one of the Forum Rules is to stay on topic in a Thread. The posts about Q&A on Amplifiers have been moved to capnvic's thread at http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=9743. Please use that Thread about Amps. :w |
47, started hosting shows in 1988, when Pioneer only had about 25 laserdiscs out( at $195.00 each).
Right now, I do my shows at a night club where the clientele is a lot of the young people whom I used to coach for soccer or hockey, the same age as my daughters( who also bring their friends to my shows sometimes). The first time one of my daughters came to a show (on her 19th birthday), I felt really old, but now with all the 20 and 21 years olds that come out I KNOW I'm really old, but I can't get my kids to take over!!! |
[quote=wildnights1;73942]47I KNOW I'm really old,
Never admit it, no one will ever know? :t |
I'll keep going as long as I'm still having fun, cause, THAT'S WHAT KARAOKE IS ALL ABOUT!!!!:g:g:g:g:g

I'll be 43 June 14th.
Yeah, I don't have a lot of patience for the "The print in your book is too small, crowd...lol" I love it when they put the artist's name on the "Your name" line of the slip... "Is Billy Joel here tonight? Hey folks, put your hands together for Billy Joel... right here tonight singing with the Koyote at the Phillips Inn!!" :g |
53 as of Ground Hog's Day 2008. Have been hosting in general since '95 and have had my own company since '97. Worked as little as 1 show a week up to 6 shows a week...now at 2 shows a week with lots of private (mostly weddings) book for Saturdays for this summer.
I find it really interesting that the majority fall into my age group. Thinking about calling my co. AARP Karaoke! k |

MTU needs to pay more attention to the age range their cusomer base falls in, and change the picture on the main website accordingly. Targeting the wrong age group can be a costly boo boo.

I believe that MTU is trying to reach all age groups. In the "Professional Karaoke Host" demographic most of us are old farts (me included) yes, but there are alot of folks in all age groups, kids, parents, grandparents that can have alot of fun with MTU's software and never host a karaoke show. I like the picture, the blonde is kinda cute. :w With Much Respect! Jim :g |
