Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
I'm stuck, can't think of anything else at the moment, Did you try the disabling of Norton ? as that was the one thing that was different to your desktop. In the drive properties under the Readyboost tab, is that enabled if so turn it off.
Other than that post your problem in this thread http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=12784 The programmers may take a look at it then. |
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Thinking more about your problem, when doing a search and hitting the enter key Hoster is only searching the database witch is on the C drive in the Hoster folder, not the external drive so it seems to me it would have nothing to do with the external drive as that doesn't come into play till you press the add button or double click it.
So I can only ask have you defraged the C drive lately ? |
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
I defrag all my drives all the time. I even moved all my KMA/KMH files into my laptop, same results. Then I changed my 6000 songs to KMA and tried that, same results...

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
I have looked back at another post where you reported this and in that post you stated it was when you use the s+button but in this post you say it is when you use the enter key to start the search.
Have you double checked the recommended settings for Windows 7, in particular Change # 6: If left on it can cause; 1) The audio to sound distorted, 2) a delay for songs to start playing, and 3) Lyrics to be out of sync with the audio.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Roy those setting's are correct, and I checked all the others also. I even bought System Mechanic yesterday and ran it through my laptop and I still have the problem even though it says my system is healthy...This is what I noticed, If I do a few huge searches, like "country" then "pop", then "rock", the glitches become very rare after that, but one seems to pop it's ugly head now and then... I had one last night just moving a name up the singers list, so the problem is wide spread and unpredictable...

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Well I'm crossing my fingers, I think I found the conflict. I've tested it for over a half hour and no glitches...I did two things: I went into Personalize (right click on desktop) > Sound > Recordings > and disabled my microphone. Then I went into Realtek > Advanced Device Settings and and clicked "Seperate all imput jacks as independent imput devices"...I really am hoping this is it. I'll keep you updated...

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Well It was my microphone. I found it buy luck. It had an external mic built in and was on...Also don't mess with the Audiotek setting, I had to go back to default setting, as it caused problems with my PC to TV converter...
|
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Glad you sorted it, I take it you mean the computers built in microphone?
I wonder if this has anything to do with RandyMcCharles problem ? |
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
I suspect the notebook has a built in mirophone, but I also suspect it was disabled at the factory or by MTU when they installed the software. Of course I intend to take a look ASAP.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Hard to believe, I have the audio glitch agian. Not as bad but I do. I updated earlier today, so and plan to double check my settings, maybe something changed...

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Well I'm at wits end with this audio glitch now. It's turning into a game breaker for us. I really enjoy the use of the programs (Hoster and Microstudio) but something needs to change for us. The glitch is an embarrisment, and it is a must that we use the search while music is playing...
|
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
I suggest you submit a support ticket through the main MTU site and point them to this thread.
You should be able to search while music is playing without this glitch. Afraid I have no more ideas on your problem, the people at support may suggest linking to your computer to try and find the cause. |

Mine is speakers, it shows 2 others I have HDMI disabled and digital output just shows ready, is your setup different. Also which driver does it show from the Audio properties mine shows 6.0.1.5911. wonder if there is a different driver you could try. Clutching at straws now mind you I should still submit a support ticket. |
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
The only thing different Roy is my driver is a Realtec 6.0.1.6206.
|
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Well Roy, I went to Realtek's website and downloaded their new 64 bit driver (6.0.1.6526). I tested it over 50 times with common words such as and, in, on, it and so on, and artist names also. It was fast and not a single audio glitch...So make a note of the driver I had, just in case some one else has or gets this problem. My Desktop had a different version of Realtek and didn't have the problem so it must be that version... I hope this doesn't raise its ugly head agian...Thanks for you time Roy...

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
JonPyle, if you look up (in the manual :e) the Search dialog topic, you will find a discussion on what is now INDEXED (BookID, Artist, Title). Searching on these fields is now super-fast. Using any other fields, including disabling any of the "Karaoke-Audio-Video" buttons triggers a STRING SEARCH, not an INDEXED search. Using SS will cause the CPU to be tied up more.
However... we have set the "audio thread" to a higher priority than Hoster's core code. Thus, if the audio is about to be starved, other features in Hoster are slowed down while the audio buffers are refilled before audio-dropout would happen. I'm very glad you found the audio driver is the culprit in your case. I've notified MTUSUPPORT to note this and do a FAQ if his findings are the same. I'm sorry you had problems. I wish there was some way we could make Hoster "independent" of all the problems users can encounter on a Windows computer. Regretfully, Microsoft is totally ignoring protecting audio playing stream. They used to do better... :r Randy McCharles, you are running Hoster 4.11. Go to http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster.htm and read all the changes since 4.11. There are MASSIVE upgrades, and believe you will find there is PLENTY worth your upgrading. Our 20% discount on upgrades ends midnight tonight, so now is the time to order, even if you don't upgrade immediately during the Holiday Season. |
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
It didn't fix it for me... I disabled everything I could in Norton antivirus and it still happened to us last weekend at a gig. I got rid of everything in the start tray including the clock and volume. We don't enable the network adapter on the "work" computer so I know it wasn't looking for a network.
For us this started happening recently with a new computer - Win7, dual core, newest Hoster upgrade. As an experiment I have upgraded our old Hoster computer (an MTU Durabook) with the newest Hoster version to see if it happens with it. We use an external hard drive with the old computer. The new one has all music files on the C: drive. I am still working this problem so if anyone has found the fix please let me know. Thanks! |
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Did you try JonPyle remedy in post #55 ?
|
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
I've read these messages several times so now I am "un"-indexing; the hard drive is 0% fragmented; an external mic was on and is now off. I'm trying everything I've read in these posts so something has to work! <G>
|
Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering
Not yet Roy but I'm working my way to it... <G>. I'm watching Win7 un-index right now.
