Your welcome billyo, I also play music video and use different player but whenever I have a favorite one I convert it to mpeg and could play it in hoster. I just played mpeg1 / mpeg2 and mp3+g format in hoster never tried other format because of compliant issues on hoster.

Still the same outcome, so gonna do more research. Btw, there is an update for the codec pack out today I believe. :)

still having the same problem, i thought it was running fine?, i dont think it's the codec issue, i believed it's your graphic card that's giving you this problem, if your using a desktop you might be able to get a better one and replaced that one that you have, if its a laptop, i think you're out of luck my friend, i did an extensive researched on this issue and everything is pointing towards the graphic card..

Sorry to hear Chad,

Which codec packe are you referiing to? K-Lite?

The New codec pack might do something, try it and let us know!

Also, there is another new Beta for the NVidia Graphics Card.

One other thing, take a look at the properties for the files that are opening slowly and see what it "Opens With" and let me know.

Thanks!

I have been playing .VOB, MP4, AVI, MKV, WMV, MOV etc and Karaoke songs (MP3+G). I would normally do about 5-10 Karaoke and then play a video depending on how many ppl where up to sing. All of this done within the Hoster program. As far as my Graphics card I have a NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M.

The problem came about when I had to reinstall windows on my computer and everything else. After that problems began. Hope that helps :)

you might wanna try going on line and download a driver scan, it might help you find what's going on with your graphic card..

Chad,

I believe the Video Issues are with a software conflict rather than the video card itself (unless there is some remote possiability that the Bios on the video card was flashed by the virus).

Speaking of Bios, have you updated you computers Bios since the Virus?

Were any Bios settings changed since OS reinstall?

Try installing this codec : Combined Community Codec Pack.... Credit goes to the author. I have no problem playing all my video files and you can tweak filters.

What video card are you using?

Re: Problems playing video files on extended desktop

I happened to find out about this codec because of the same problem you have. I have 5000+ vcd songs and i had problem with an nvidia video card. And also most of my friends has the hoster and lite and they have the same problems as you are. My suggestion is to do install it and if it didn't work for you, i'll recommend other solutions. But i believe it will solve your problem. Klite codec didn't solve our problem that's why we look for another one and this one solve it.

And remember, you cannot just copy .dat files of a vcd. You have to convert it or else, it will work but you gonna have problems.

What kind of problems?

The few that I have work just fine after using Windows Explorer to copy them.

What is the disk manufacturer that contains the .DAT files?

Thanks!

I would like to no if this has been sorted, I am having the same problems since updating, it has happend before and I have wasted many hours and lots of money on updates, virus scans, hardware and raised many tickets on this. When hoster first was able to play video I had no problems and would see it in both the extended desk top and in preview window. After many hoster updates I know cannot play MPEG2 through hoster on a secong monitor (extended desktop). I can if I drop Windows media player to the sencond desktop. And on a ealier version of hoster using one of the insta buttons (now gone) so I have 2500 converted lazer karaoke I cannot play and another £40.00 lighter in the pocket. Progress

I use videos also (Pioneer DVD versions converted to .mp4) and have run into the same problem from time to time

Have you tried installing K-Lite Codec MEGA Pack (v9.4)?

My Pioneer lasers were converted years ago so the are in MPEG1 format and they all play fine on the extended monitor and can play other MPEG's thru InstaButtons. I don't recall Hoster ever showing Videos in the "preview" window. I am using H5.08.
