Haven't downloaded 4.10 yet.
Haven't downloaded 4.10 yet because I'm a little afraid after reading some of these posts. Just bought a new computer because the other one crashed and may not be able to get repaired. Anyway, just wanted to know if this version would give me any problems. I'm hoping I can get it because of some of the features, like being able to change brand on multiple songs. Here is my the info on my computer.

Emilio,
Give it a try... it is very stable on most user's computers, with alot less features, speed, memory, etc. that your computer has... Report back if you incurr any problems after downloading 4.10, and you'll get a bunch of eager beta testers helping you along the way... Enjoy! P.S. Make sure all the Vista guidelines are followed prior to downloading... and if later you find it necessary to switch back to 4.xxx ( have a copy of your current version ) just do a uninstall / install, and you are back to where your computer was stable... I'm betting that you will not have any problems, once the Vista recommended proceedure for Hoster is followed.. |
i was hesitant at first, but i took a chance caused you wouldn't know if youre going to have a problem till you tried, but anyway everything seems to be working fine on my laptop, just got to figure out the background audio..

Okay, I downloaded 4.10 last night and played a few songs on it and it's working fine. I haven't checked everything out on it yet, but so far so good. I was looking forward to this version very much because of being able to change brands on multiple songs at once. I suggested this change a little while ago. I had a lot of songs that had Sound Choice Pro, Brick, 6+6, Chartbuster Essential, etc., that I wanted to label as Sound Choice, or just Chartbuster. It gets maddening when downloading lots of music and it keep stopping to tell you this Disc ID uses Sound Choice 6+6 and so on. So I've been busily changing all the names, and I'm very happy. Also I've noticed another improvement in the edit utility which I thought should be changed, and that is when you highlight title or artist to make a correction, eg., The Beatles - Beatles, The, the entire artist name or the title would dissappear, requiring you to type in the title or artist. I used it last night and highlighted just the "The", and the rest of it stayed. Kudos to MTU for all the work in making the BEST hosting program on the planet even better. And of course, thanx to all the people on these threads that provide many answers to the various problems we encounter. You're all the greatest.:)

Billyo's 1st system has 2048MB RAM, but 630MB is unavailable, used by Windows and other drivers/programs. Only 1370MB is available for Hoster and other programs. His 2nd system has 1530MB RAM, but 400MB is unavailable. Only 930MB is available for Hoster and others. If you have 1000MB (1GB) RAM, and your OS and drivers are taking 630MB, you only have 370MB available for Hoster and others. If you enable Visualization, we have seen 60MB be required. With a large Songs Database, I have seen Hoster go from 17MB (first run) to 129MB by doing several things. The Songs Database was 14MB in size. When I opened the Search dialog and entered * to find all, 28MB RAM was consumed peaking the usage up to 128MB. If you have a large Singers Database, it too will require more RAM. You think things are slow when we load them into RAM, they become worthless if we tried to thrash the HDD... i.e. it woulldn't work. The larger your Songs & Singers Databases are, the more RAM you need. That's a simple fact of life. TIP... several of our Beta Testers used "System Mechanic" (cleanup) program from Iolo Systems. I run it daily. It compacts my physical RAM to free up fractured RAM space (yes, that can happen just like discs get fragmented). Problems with low ran have disaappeared after RAM compaction. :e :r We found that opening IE7 with 5 tabs, the closing 3 tabs and viewing with Task Manager, 5 tabs were still being shown. Since we use ID for our Show Display, it could well be that IE/Windows is NOT freeing RAM after the Show Display switches from, say Lyrics to Intermission or Audio or Video. We'll do some more testing on this. Keep in mind that the Show Display (in its current form) has been around for a number of versions, not just 4.10. If you don't have 2GB RAM, don't expect Hoster to work correctly. Again, running System Mechanic may help you free up fractured RAM that Windows doesn't give back automatically. |

thanks for taking the time in looking and my laptops configurations, i downloaded the new version and i only did a little bit of tweaking, like changing my virtual memory settings from 2046/4093 to 3055/4096 and i also did the playback offset to -0.50, and everything is working fine, did a mocked up show for 3 1/2 hrs non stop set it to auto/man, and i didn't encounter any problems , like i said in my previous post i had never had a problem with any of hosters version new and old and if i did mainly just minor ones that i could fix, BA player was working yesterday ,it just happened this morning when i decided to create a new mp3 folder, and believed me i do read your manual, it might take me sometime to figure/comprehend it out, but i do read it, but anyway thanks for taking the time in responding, i know you guys are very busy, so i apologized for taking your time away on your busy schedule.. |
Billy read my response in your new thread.
