As for the HP the out of sync at 20 minutes happened to someone who worked for me, he just noticed he was out of sync and went to 3.4. The out of sync that I discoverd testing happened after couple of hours, the DK and other brands were fine that whole time.
After the 2 hours only the DK was out of sync as far as I can tell. I am doing more extensive testing today. After the conversion and after installing Hoster on the HP, the audio driver for the conversion had to be replaced because it was causing all audio hoster, itunes etc to drag. I thought maybe Hoster did not recognize that new audio driver and could have caused the out of sync I will try uninstalling Hoster and reinstalling Hoster before I do my test. Also the software updates the only thing that is available on HP website for my machine for the XP operating system, I decided to install those updates as well. After doing all of these things I will test, test test and see what happens. As far as a cooling device I'm ready for any suggestions there never even heard of such a thing. Thanks for everybody's willingness to help:) |
Auto detection also leads to available drivers for that computer and once again there are every VISTA driver available for that machine and no XP drivers.

They are called cooling pads and I think even Wal-mart carrys one. It is a pad/stand that sits under the laptop and has 1 - 2 fans in it that draw the heat away from the laptop allowing them to run cooler. Getting the laptops cleaned internally will help to as dust tends to collect on the internal fan and other parts causing the heat to increase faster. |
hi
No, there was not singers disk - also my laptop is not VISTA so I think the problems the others are having are completely different. As for the cooling pad I will go get one today. That would be great if that solves the problem. I did test after all the changes mentioned earlier and I still am in sync with Sound Choice and I am still out of sync after a period of time with DKKaroke, and I mean way out of sync there is no way you can sing those songs unless you know the song well enough and pay no attention to the screen. I think that's wierd. Also different from the others problems, If I close Hoster and then go back in or even reboot the computer the DKKaraoke songs are still out of sync. If I take the DKKaroke song out the play list and close Hoster and then start Hoster again, and put the song back playlist the song is still out of sync but not nearly as bad. If I shut the computer completely down and then start it up again once I enter Hoster, Windows gives an error message that requires Hoster to close. (Wierd!!!). :?:f |
Hi again
The Fujitsu crashes every once in a while during a show, for no apparent reason I'll receive a Hoster not responding, I close the task, reopen Hoster and move on. Again more of a nuisance then a major problem like I'm having with the HP. Thanks, Stu |
I am not sure why the DK are messing up and I can't really test that as I only have one DK disk and it plays fine. I'll see if I can get some of the other guys to test it again and see what they are getting.
You can try tweaking your laptops with the suggestions at this site. http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm Marklwood found this and it has helped a lot that had sync problems on laptops. It helps shutdown a lot of unnecessary services running in the background that eat up processor time and memory. |

I had that in 4.06, but it hasn't happened at all in 4.08. I know 4.08 cleaned up a lot of memory leaks that may have been causing it. |
I discovered something else wierd about the HP problem. After having the horrible out of sync problem with DK, I let the HP laptop set with Hoster up doing nothing for a couple of hours, played a DK song that was a problem before and it was perfectly in sync.
None of my other 4 computers has this problem. I have not tried the cooler thing yet, but my best guess it has something to do with the VISTA to XP conversion, but I don't know what??. If you're considering doing the conversion, keep in mind you may not be able to get help on this forum if you have problems that might or might not be driver related.:s |
i am also going to try the blackviper thing as well. I'll let you know how that and the cooler works.

I have never found laptops coolers very successful myself.
A good internal clean around the fan and air ducts seems much more effective. Another tip, if your laptop has air intake on the underneath of it, raise the back of the laptop by standing on a small block of wood only about 20mm high can make quite a difference. I have personally stuck two round rubber feet to the rear bottom of my machine. It also slightly angles the keyboard better for typing. :):g Roy |

Yea, either that or you have some bubble gum.

Thanks

I've tried everything that has been suggested.
I don't know where else to turn What would you do if you were me. I'm I completely out of luck:e:e |
Last night I was having sync issues after about 30 minutes into the show that seemed to be getting worse as the night went on. I tried re-starting/re-opening Hoster with little effect. If I would re-boot, the problem would be corrected for a few songs, but would reappear. I finally gave up and had my wife bring my test laptop to finish the night.
I brought the machine home and when I fired it up in a much quieter environment, the problem was easy to diagnose. It was simply the CPU fan going bad. I guess I couldn't hear the faint whine of a bad bearing at the bar. I let it run for a while and sure enough, the fan would intermittently slow down or stop completely. I replaced the fan and let it run Hoster with a six hour playlist. No more problems. |
My problem has nothing to do with cooling or fans but everything to do with the video being out of sync with the audio.
If you are purchasing a new machine make sure it is XP, Tiger Direct has good deals on XP machines and very fast delivery. If you have already purchased a VISTA machine, you might be better off to leave it at VISTA at least the manufacturer will have all the necessary updates for that computer and it's drivers. I'm in the process of googling different video driver possibilities and with any luck I'll land on one that will be successful for the HP like my other two conversions were. I may be forced to load VISTA back on this machine:f |

As the computer heats up then the components don't function correctly and begin slowing down. This is why back in the old days of huge main frame computers they were put in an environmental room where the temperature was kept to about 65 degrees. If they got above 75 degrees they would begin shutting components down to try to lower the temperature. Todays computer components are more rugged and can handle higher temperatures, but there is still a limit. If the fan inside a laptop is dirty or not working then the laptop will have to work harder to do the things you are asking it to do. An external cooler will help but it won't replace the internal fan. |
