You gotta be kidding, I was on the VDJ forum for two years straight, and that's all that was talked about, in fact, VDJ has pages of tweaks that the VDJ expert users will always refer you to. I went through half of those tweaks, took a whole day, videos still froze on the lappy. Less powerful lappy with lower end video card plays videos well, go figure. They even have threads in there that are titled "List your combination of specs that play videos play flawlessly", because they are still trying to ascertain what tweaks work and what combination of computer specs work.

It wasn't just me it was threads and threads of VDJ users, that was my point. I do a lot of video mixing and was quite easy with an earlier version. There are still some refusing to do the tweaks, or don't understand how, and have chosen to stick with the old versions as they claim the new versions lost a lot of the original functionality.:s

Wow, I really feel sorry for those who have a problem. I've been in business since 1984 supply entertainment of all kinds, from Earth Wind & Fire to a Petting Zoo. I'm in business to make money with the least amount of hassles. If I had the problems you have with VDJ, I wouldn't use it.

The problem with Hoster is we have put months of labor hours converting CDG's to KMA's. We have no choice but to use Hoster. We don't use the 4xx series. We use the 3 series only. I can't take a chance of losing my clients over a Karaoke Program. We do around 150 private functions a year with Karaoke and over 1000 in total.

Didn't really have any problems, just didn't want to do tweaks at the time, so stayed with older version, then moved on later with new versions as I got braver with tweakin'. And, like I said before, one laptop worked well with videos while one didn't, simply used the one that didn't as a non-video mixing lappy. No big deal at all. My point was, you had earlier stated that hardly anyone needed to tweak, I simply confirmed that nearly everyone (1000's) on the forum needed to, and in fact, a page was published on the necessary tweaks.:)

One reason we might not of had problems is because we didn't start doing Music Videos until this year.

We did find that XP didn't handle the videos very well when doing a Karaoke show with VDJ. However we didn't have any problem using Vista until 4xx series of Hoster. Hopefully the problems will get worked out so we can get the confidence to use the new Hoster. In the past it has been a rock solid program.

We don't do Karaoke Shows in Clubs. There's just not enough money in it to support the investment. The first Karaoke Show I did was when 8 Tracks were used and made $150.00 per night every Friday & Saturday night. Investment was minimal, songs came out rarley.

<!--A friend of mine has somewhere around thirteen shows a week www.legendmakers.com and doesn't make much more than I did way back when. He started around the same time as I did. I stopped doing Karaoke Shows a few years back and only book private Karaoke Shows and usually book my friend and his people. The shows I book generally run around $975.00 for 4 hours. Here's my sites that will give you a good idea where we work. www.starsoundsproductions.com www.northbayentertainment.com www.starsoundsevents.com I can't afford to make any mistakes and lose and of my clients. I have a large number of entertainers that rely on me for bookings.-->

I do appreciate everybody on these forums that share there situations.:)

sleflar, I want to thank you for using Hoster. We are honored! :)

Second, what can MTU do to make your happy? We'll try to meet your needs if you'll tell us what they are.

I'm sorry you've had problems and don't want to make the Windows upgrades.

I share your concern over needing any upgrades. We've been with Microsoft for 30 years (I have a contract with Bill Gate's and my signatures), and until this year, we really didn't need to tweak Windows. :e

Problem is so many of our users were getting very demanding that we add new features. So... we did aka 4.xx.

sleflar November 5th, 2008 09:40 PM

Admin,

I can understand the 4 series to satisfy your clientle base with new features and increasing the price to compensate for the R&D. However the program is not ready for the general public considering the past performance of the 3 series.

There really isn't anything you can do at this time. We can still use the Hoster 34 and that's fine with us. A few of my staff has decided to us 4.03 and seems to work for them and they have my blessings.

The only thing I can say is to keep working on it and when the time comes that we can have the confidance we had in the 3 series, we'll use the 4 series as a standard.

One thing I don't understand is that you can upgrade to the 4 series from the 3 series for $69.00 but it is only for one computer when you originally bought two installs.

In any case I still think Hoster is the best in the market. Thanks:)

I can field this one. You are purchasing an upgrade for 2 installs. The license for Hoster is for 1 computer to use in your shows, and 1 computer for backup purposes. MTU is trusting you to only use 1 or the other during your shows. While you can, technically, use both at the same time, MTU is trusting you that you don't.

We have purchase two upgrades so far and it will only allow an upgrade on one computer each. What good is a backup when there different?

Your registration # should be good on 2 computers. Are you upgrading the same 2 that you originally put Hoster on? 2 computers should share the same original 3.xx reg code. Those SAME 2 can be upgraded with 1 upgrade license. One is for your show, the other for backup. If you are trying to use the upgrades on different computers than the original Hoster, it will not allow that. The 3.xx codes have to match. This keeps me from buying the upgrade and letting ddouglass use my code to upgrade his also.

sleflar November 5th, 2008 11:09 PM

Thanks for the info. I have purchased the Hoster Program 13 times myself. I'll have to look up the reg codes. Thanks

I, regretably, don't have Hoster in front of me right now. I believe you can find the reg code in the drop down from the top. I believe help then about.
