For my part, I am 100% certain that I am clicking the hoster icon anbd not the installer again, the icons look very different for a start.

Also I updraded to 3.319 I did not remove the old version I thoght that would save the registration.

There is certainly a problem executing the hoster program after the upgrade.

My kma files all 7500 are safe and have been moved correctly to the shared documents path at the top of my thread. Last night I used microstudio to host karaoke, very unprofesional but got me through the show, managing my rotation using paper request slips like the old days.

Thanks Paul! This will help us this morning. :)

Are you now saying your KMA Files are moved and visible in the Songs Database? Or are they visible by your eye, but not in the Songs Database?

Please post here what date is on your 3.319 installation file (not the Hoster .exe that you run for a show). There have been three, and a forth is expected today. It will greatly help us to know what date is on your file (http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster.htm#Versions shows 1/28/08, 2/2/08, or 2/20/08).

OK the files are visible to my eye and microstudio re-imported them into it's DB the moment I ran it (microstudio). I don't know if the song DB is different for hoster, rememebr hoster doesnt actaully run, only the two popups.

I am at work at the moment so can't tell you the version, but I downloaded the update from teh MTU website on Saturday (2 days ago). I will update this thread when I get home.

It's nice to know you guys are on the case.

Paul,

If you are ok with editing the registry, take a look at the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Default\SongFromFolder

What is its value? If it contains "C:\Program Files\..." anywhere in there, this is what Hoster detects when it puts up those messages. You can delete this key, and Hoster will restore it to a value without "C:\Program Files\..." the next time it runs. You may need to rebuild your Songs Database (Tools > Build Songs Database). Make sure it points to the directory that now has your songs (C:\Documents and Settings\...).

After I reboot I am running hoster from the Hoster Icon and Not the install program Icon.

jakester February 25th, 2008 04:02 PM

I works great, I deleted the reg key and Hoster started right up, I did have to rebuild the song data base though. Thank you thank you thank you.... and if I did not say it Thank you....

Everything is back to normal and running like a champ again.

I am running Win XP
all win updates
I downloaded 3.319 update on feb 23rd

thank you again for the fix.

Glad this worked for you Jakester.

Metalgodz February 25th, 2008 04:15 PM

I'll take a refund please. Thank you:? :? :e :f :f :f

PaulK February 25th, 2008 06:46 PM

Thank you dclark!
You were correct the reg key was incorrect, removing the key and running hoster brought the program straight back, then rebuilding the song DB as instructed.

No songs were lost, and now Im fully working.

thanks again

We are now beta testing Hoster 3.320. We believe we have fixed the problems some have been experiencing. We hope to have the testing results by Wednesday.

Version 3.320 will be a free upgrade for those who have purchased Hoster or an Upgrade since May 30, 2006.

These problems crept in as we tried to automatically convert KMA and working files to the required folders to be... VISTA compliant. What a nightmare. We have had to categorize the VISTA bugs we are dealing with, as well as move the files. It turns out we CANNOT do it programmatically. There are several steps that Vista users will have to perform manually. There was no way (due to a bug) to automate this process.

For Windows 2000 and XP, we no longer move KMA and working files when UPGRADING. When installing from scratch, these are all placed in the "Microsoft correct" folders for Vista compliance.

I cannot open Hoster after 3.319 upgrade 2/22/08

I saw the info about "Edit Registry". Would this fix my problem? If so I don't know where the registry is, or should I wait for the new 3.320? I have a show this Friday.
Thanks for your help.
Gary

you should start another thread if you want your question answered.

plus explain your problem.

bourgeoisdoor February 25th, 2008 09:27 PM

This is my first problem since I bought Hoster last summer.
I don't see anything that says start a thread.
Thanks for your help.

When you open the forums page click on the Hoster Help forum. At the top of the list is a button to start a new thread. Be sure to explain exactly what is going on, when it happened and what operating system you are using. That will save some time.

Read this Post about Hoster 3.320, and then download and install it.

The problem is in 3.318 and 3.319, now fixed in 3.320.

We too thought we had a virus when we unknowingly lost files not related to Hoster at all. We are confident we found the code that along with Windows' random operations did the NTSF index damage. We are confident we have fixed the problem, but only you folks seeing the problem repeatedly can tell us it is fixed.

Thank you for your patience. We truly are sorry this happened, and believe we have solved it.
