windows is a little freaky, and its not perfect software. something could have gotten deleted or corrupt. usually these things happen out of nowhere.

MTU techs, can you please look at this problem for me. I'm still waiting for some advice.
I'm certainly not keen to reformat my HD. Dave Everett |
someone else posted this a while back, you might want to read it before you reformat if it gets to that

Dave, there is another thread on this that was started by GPayne. The only cure unfortunately found so far has been to reinstall Windows:f
When he did and loaded Hoster it worked with out any errors. |
Thanks guys, but I really would like to here an MTU tech say, reformat the drive or reinstall windows.
Reinstall could be tricky, I bought a pre-configured laptop, I didn't receive an XP disk. I think it has a recovery disk instead. I don't doubt your knowledge guys, but these are extreme actions to take given that EVERYTHING else works fine and Hoster 3.303 works fine. Surely MTU are looking at this? Dave Everett |
To me something in your system is damaged. This is in your Windows Installation. Reformat the drive and then run all of the Windows Updates and install all of the latest drivers for your Motherboad, Video card and any other item in your computer.
Once you have done all of this, Hoster will work fine. |

As Dale Douglas mentioned before!! The only thing that worked for me was to reformat and reinstall windows. Got all the updates except Netframe 2.0. I got Netframe 1.1. I was constantly getting the DAO exception error. After reinstalling everything and getting all the updates 3.310 loaded just as it was suppose to. Since I had all of my KMA files on a non-system drive, I had no problems. gpayne |
I was running hoster V - 3.303 and I never had any trouble with the program
or hardware and then I upgraded to 3.310 and I am still running the same computer and hardware. Now when I am running Hoster V-3.310 and I want to Import CD Tracks I enter brand and disk info then click on Check FreeDB button at this point the Computer locks up. I reinstalled Hoster V-3.303 and this version is working great Jacqui |

Are you connected to the internet when you do this? If so is your connection Dial-up or Broadband (DSL or Cable)? If you are not connected then that is why it locks up. FreeDB is an internet accessed music database. Use the Add Tracks button instead of the Check FreeDB to list the tracks. If you are but it is Dial-up expect a long delay while it searches the database for your CD. It may seem like your computer has locked up but wait a while before you say it is locked and try to recover. |
Ok, I'm just about ready to reformat and reload all windows to run Hoster 3.310.
I just need to check how to backup the song database. Can I copy the 3 database files and restore them after I install 3.310? Dave Everett |
No need. Just make sure you backup your songs folder with all your KMA files. Then after you get Hoster installed the program will ask you where they (songs) are and will build the database.
|
Thanks Dale,
I was just unclear how the database works. I see the location, title, artist etc is held in the database, I didn't realise this info was also contained in the kma file. Dave Everett |
