Hoster CRITICAL MTU Help Required
Post problems you have that only MTU staff can fix

What's the point of having this forum if nobody from MTU attends it.
After 6 long years I think this is the straw that broke the camels back.
What's happening MTU ? :m

gduns - with the Lord February 2nd, 2006 12:01 PM

The restore points will work. I have used it before it is under accessories...system tools.....system restore. restore to a date when it was working properly.

Beavis February 2nd, 2006 12:23 PM

Thanks gduns, Beavis and Chip for taking the time to explain, you have saved my life. I can now use the old version for the time being until someone from MTU decides to answer and rectify my error 7 message. I have two Hoster licences one for my laptop and one for my office backup machine. I can't understand why I can install the upgrade on my office pc but not my laptop. :?

Just thought I'd log back onto see if MTU had bothered to reply to my error 7 problem. I don't wish to be rude but why does MTU bother to have a forum for

"Hoster CRITICAL MTU Help Required

if nobody's from MTU bothers to answer the threads.

I can't get the 3.301 update to install either. Removes the 3.300 and then takes me to a reg screen, then onto the codes screen and then it tells me my codes are wrong. I tried both my 3.000 & 3.300 reg codes but nothing seems to work. I don't seem to remeber it doing this before on my other updates.

MTUSUPPORT February 2nd, 2006 03:05 PM

Eric,
This problem is normally due to your Email not matching your Registration email for the RegCode. I just checked and yours does match.

You need to try installing the software gain, as I don't see an error since 12/26/05. I show that it worked and went through correctly Feb 2nd at 4:49am EST.

That's what I can't understand. Within minutes of installing the upgrade on my office machine I tried it on my laptop and it failed with the resulting message above. All I've tried to do is contact you as instructed.

ddouglass February 2nd, 2006 11:18 PM

Eric, did you change the registration code in the information before sending it to MTU? The reason I asked is I noticed when I did my upgrade that the code listed in my store account was different from the code that was already filled in on the form. I didn't change it and my registration went through just fine.

I didn't touch or change anything on the form.

Beavis February 3rd, 2006 06:38 AM

i told you this before.

make sure you use the reg code in your store account.

MTUSUPPORT February 3rd, 2006 11:56 AM

Eric,
Try it again. It is showing me that it is going through with no errors.

The only thing that could cause this that is not showing me the errors, is that there is a problem that is being worked on currently in the Database. This Error 7 means there is something wrong in your Account, normally this is caused by 2 different emails; your Account email, and your Registration email being different. Your Account does not have this problem.

Please try installing it again and post back if it worked.

Eric, in cleaning up this Thread I insured you had successfully installed on Feb 3rd. The difference between the earlier failures appears to be that you used a prior email address. The successful registration shows a different email. MTUSUPPORT must have changed your Account or Registration Email to allow the registration to work.

We discovered that the "Error 7 - Contact MTU" message can occur under two conditions: 1) You have two store accounts or, 2) You changed email addresses on your Account and it does not match the Registration Email. We have scheduled to write and add a script to allow any registered emails or the Account email to register. The first problem is harder to correct, but we are working on that too.

MTUSUPPORT responded in 31 hours in this Thread instead of the same day that we normally try to do. A number of critical events happened beyond our control that required everyone's attention and our free support suffered.

I will modify our instructions related to doing an upgrade that it should only be done when there are 2-3 days before a show is to happen to allow us ample time to respond.

We intentionally allow Hoster to install on 2 computers so you can have a show system and a backup system. If anyone earns an income using Hoster, then you should maintain a backup system. That is good business practice that MTU supports.

Anyone who reads this should note that MTU provides free help when we have time available. We realize that we should also offer a paid support incident when it is critical. We will soon add that ability.
