Well it happened again. This time the entire computer locked up and I had to do a hard boot. Most of the time hoster will just freeze up and I can cntrl/alt/del to close it and restart hoster. Not this time.

Re: Post if you crash when adding a CDG track from a Singer's disc

Sorry I'm a little late in getting to this thread, but had this happen twice on Tuesday night.

Sound Choice disc (don't remember the #), first song imported fine while the singer was singing, second song crashed it as soon as I hit the "add track" button. Crashed right in the middle of the singer singing.

MTU, you know the specs on my system, I believe.

Definitely not going to load songs during a singer's performance anymore, until we figure out what's wrong.

New gig tonight at a new club, hoping everything will be OK.

I'm having the same problem. When I insert a disc it either freezes or crashes all together :e . This is one feature that is very important given that a lot of singers prefer there own CD's and get upset when they can't use them. I'm currently using 3.00 thinking about going back to previous version didn't have problem until upgrade. :?

My problem is when I import a CDG from a singers disk while a singer is singing the singers screen freezes up until the song downloads.:?
I am using Ver. 3.006 on a 2.8GHz laptop with 1gig ram running windows XP Pro. I am using a Plextor PX-716UF external DVD Drive.

Re: Post if you crash when adding a CDG track from a Singer's disc

I setup my system and tried to import songs to the playlist while a song was playing (simulating a show) and was able to get the first song in, but when I put the second cd in and hit "add track" Hoster shut down(3.00 version). I reinstalled 2.215 and I was able to import songs into the playlist without Hoster shuting down. :? I didn't have the problem of Hoster crashing until I upgraded to 3.000 I will continue to use 2.215 and let you know if I experience this problem with the old version. :f

When adding a CDG while playing the lyrics display on my laptop garble. I don't believe that the lyrics on the customers TV is effected.

Re: Post if you crash when adding a CDG track from a Singer's disc

I am the person that started this thread. I have been in contact several times with MTU concerning this. The people at MTU are very nice. I have even spoke with Dave, The president of MTU, and that man really impressed me. He is very concerned about the crashing. Right now they are working as hard as they can to solve this problem. I don't know if it's due to some other program running in the background yet, but I have already tried two different computers. One with a 3200 AMD processor and the second one is a laptop Pentium 4, 3.3ghz processor, 512 mb ram memory, and a plextor 716 burner. Both have crashed.

So at this point I am working very close with MTU to get to the bottom of this. Remember MTU is the best program you can buy. So stick with it and I am sure MTU will work things out on this.

At this time I am getting ready to test run a new Beta version 3.104. I will let everyone know if this helps the problem of crashing.

I thank everyone for their imput. And thank you Dave at MTU.:)

Re: Post if you crash when adding a CDG track from a Singer's disc

Today I demoed the new version of MTU Hoster 3.104. It did not crash one time. As a matter of fact it worked the best I've ever seen Hoster work.

I was using a Toshiba laptop pentium 4, 3.3ghz with XP windows, 512mb memory, 100 gb hard drive, and an exterior plextor 716 burner.

Tomorrow I am planning on testing 3.104 on a 3200 AMD athlon processor with XP windows, 512mb memory, 160gb hard drive and an interior plextor burner.

The people at MTU really outdid theirselves on this version. My hats off to all at MTU.:) :t :r

Willy2211,
Are the systems still not crashing at all with the new beta?

Re: Post if you crash when adding a CDG track from a Singer's disc

I would say that if you have Musicmatch open when you are trying to Import from the Disc, this could cause the crash. I will try that and see what happens.

Does anyone else have a program open while running Hoster and getting the crash that has to do with DJ software?

Re: Post if you crash when adding a CDG track from a Singer's disc

I use I-tunes in the background but I have had Hoster crash with it opened and closed. What's strange is when Hoster crashed (soon as I hit add track Hoster disappears) I checked the processes and it showed Hoster as running but wasn't anywhere to be found:?

Bryan,

No, the system has not crashed yet with the beta version on the laptop, which is a pentium 4 3.3. I will try the AMD this Friday.

Re: Post if you crash when adding a CDG track from a Singer's disc

My system is still crashing on a regular basis. I do not have any other programs running during my events.
I do have a workaround.
At the end of a song, when the singer has finished singing, there is ussually a few seconds of music before the song ends. I setup to load a singers disc, that is put in all the user info and song number, but I do not push the "add track" button until the this few seconds of music is playing. This way if the system crashes, there is no one singing. I call up the next singer while the song is loading. By the time the singer gets to the stage the load is ussually completed.

I am anxious to see how it will act. If the AMD crashes that would mean it had something to do with the AMD, I would think. I will try the AMD this Friday and I will let everyone know how it works.

I am using an AMD with 3.006 and I haven't had any problems with mine at all. :)

I UPGRADED from 3.000 to 3.006.

Re: Post if you crash when adding a CDG track from a Singer's disc

I didn't have problems until I upgraded from my original 2.215 to 3.000 and I didn't delete 2.215. I recently (because of hoster crashing) I went back to 2.215 and wasn't experiencing and problems like I did with 3.000 (crashing) but it did crash on me yesterday for the first time. I'm wondering if it does have something to do with multiple versions being left on HD. :? The ones that are having this problem do you have other verisons still on computer?

It automatically appears when you play a Singer's disc track (CDG type), a KMA imported from a CDG disc, a KMA converted from a .cdg or .bin file on the hard drive.

It does not appear for KMA files converted from .MP3G or .ZIP, or added using the Add Track MP3G button. The problem is we don't have time to get it to work with MP3 related songs. We'll address that in the future. :w

Re: Post if you crash when adding a CDG track from a Singer's disc

Since 1.011 i've never "deleted" anything. I let hoster install wizard uninstall the old versions for me so I don't have to go online to reactivate it. I'm using an Athlon 2500. Crashed a couple times one night back in Dec or Jan (heat related I think) but no problems since then - 7 nights a week (no days off since Christmas :f ), 5 hours a night, 1-3 singer discs per night.

When you do an Update, the Install Deletes the files that were installed prior to this version. As long as they are not set to Read only any update of Hoster or any other MTU product using the Installation will delete the old versions.
