Re: Installing Windows XP Service Pac #2 - YES or NO

Thought I'd feel things out before I check it out on my monitor which is not avialible without a trip to the showplace. However, I'll go check it out now.

I already have done several shows after installing SP2, so that is not the problem. Directx 9.0 is the only other change I made.

Maybe there is not a problem, but if I have to reload video drivers, you will hear from me soon as I don't know how to do that.

OK, I'm back. I connected to my monitor and started Hoster and a song. The preview window showed on laptop and a second little window. I double clicked on it and it jumped over to the monitor. Everything was normal.

After disconnecting from the monitor, restarting, and playing a song, the song now came up full screen on the laptop.

2.219 is working fine, but for some reason, I get more of these little quirks, compared to the way Hoster behaved in the past.

Without a singer's monitor connected, when the singer's window comes up full screen on the pc, all you should have to do is double click it to minimize it. It should hold the minimized setting until you hook back up to a second monitor. It is currently holding the larger setting it was locked into on the singer's screen

If after a show, move your mouse pointer to the singer's screen and double click before shutting down. The window should remain small on the pc until you hook the singer's monitor up again.

P.S. glad you made the trip and checked it out :)

Hello All,
Seems Microsoft have admitted there are conflicts, when installing SP2, on computers running with Intel-4 and Celeron CPU's, which cause the computer to stop recognizing the operating system, and refuse to start.
Also the beefed up firewall protection has caused problems in accessing certain programmes.
I have used AMD CPU's for years now and was reluctant to download SP2, finally did, Microstudio and other MTU programmes are running without any problems. Touch Wood!
Regards from across the pond.

Those conflicts must not be across the board. I have Intel P4 and have had no problems. Guess it's the luck of the draw. I know I hesitated a long time before installing SP2, but finally plunged, and the water was kind to me, at least for now. Just knocked on my desk :)

Take care,

George
