I too have tried all the audio options with no luck. All songs off of PHM 0402-P, 0404-P, 0406-P and 0407-P have audio drops at beginning and several places in song. Have just purchased these CDG's don't think they will honor a refund. Hope something can be done. Thanks

I definitely am not bashing Hoster. I absolutely love it. But when you have problems, you need to voice them somewhere. Squeeky wheel gets the grease.
I have over 50 of these discs (PHM). Obviously, had I known that these would be a problem, I would not have purchased them. They get used ALOT. All of my update music is through them (until now). Would probably cost upwards of $1,000 to replace them with a different brand. Not an investment I'm so willing to make at this point, until all possibilities have been exhausted. I'm sure there's something hardware/software related that's doing it, but none of the recommended fixes seem to take care of it. My PC was provided to me by MTU. I was told it would be good to go, and everything would be set as it should be, and I'm sure it probably was. But, maybe it wasn't? I'm not the only person with this PC. There has to be people out there who are running PHM discs flawlessly with the same hardware I have. So, what is not set right? That's what I'm trying to find out. I'll post my computer info soon. Gotta run to a gig. |
Changed the audio acceleration to basic, and it didn't change anything with the audio drops.

no one said to replace your disc my point was not to buy more of the same intill this is fixed
and by the way you hit it right on the head when you said I'm not the only person with this PC. There has to be people out there who are running PHM discs flawlessly with the same hardware I have. so by chance did you add a program to this computre did you check for all up date maybe it was an up date that change some thing if you did add a program did it change some setting on this unit there are so many things that can make 1 unit play and not a nother of the same type i know this is a long shot for you butt try to find some one it the forum that has the same unit that you do were the disc are playing right for them and match them setting for setting and see if you still have the same problem get the same up date they have and see if it goes away that is what i would try untill a fix is out there and if it does fix it than it was the unit and not the program just food for thought havea good one mike |
Nreel,
I thought you were on to something there, changes the audio accelleration to basic, and it the first selection (one that had typically be very bad) almost flawlessly. The change does seem to make about a 40 to 50% improvement in the amount and duration of the dropout though. Got any other suggestions? It seems we're making progress at least. |
This problem is definitely not Hoster related.
It's in the set-up. And, I'm confident that we'll find the solution. But, there's less and less time to find it when you do 5 gigs a week. I'm not done trying. Brian, do you have any feedback on this at all? You guys just sent my PC to me 4 weeks ago. Can I get something posted here on how it is supposed to be set-up? Maybe something got changed. |

PLEASE NOTE! Run 2.209 to UNINSTALL the prior version. DO NOT use Windows Control Panel Add/Remove programs. When you allow 2.209 to remove, we save all your entered demographics and Registration Code so you don't have to enter them again. We are close to releasing 2.212 which might be better on the dropouts. We did a massive study, understanding and rework of the multiple Threads that are operating while Hoster is running. We found some very powerful techniques to make Hoster's threads run higher than the standard Windows OS threads to insure we get the samples we need... when we need them instead of Windows sweeping the disc, managing the power, etc. that "IT" thinks is important to do during your show. :r We have not touched the CDGPlayer code which draws the graphic images for the video. This code was maximized years ago to handle every known CDG disc problem, such as fade-ins and fade-outs on the title and credit pages. This code should be clean. I find it very hard to believe it is the code, and currently believe it is a system related problem. FIRST... uninstall with 2.209, then reinstall 2.209 and see if the problem persists. SECOND... run dxdiag on your computer and attach it to your post in this thread. When you create a new post, you can find the Attach File Browse button and field below the edit window where you type your post. THIRD... will someone please attach their .kma file of a phm song that is causing dropouts? You will have to ZIP it to be able to add it to your post as an attachment (only certain file extensions are allowed as attachments). Then, we can try YOUR FILE to see what we find. If we can create the problem, we can solve it. However, as others are testifying that they don't see the problem, this strongly indicates it is a SYSTEM INSTALLATION problem. PLEASE UNDERSTAND... we are NOT trying to shirk our responsibilities. However, if we can't duplicate the problem, we can't fix it. ALSO... if you don't provide information about your computer, there is nothing we can do to help you. Nreel is totally correct in his first AND SECOND request that you provide information about your computer. The dxdiag will give us most of this, so run it and attach the log output to your post. We all want to help you run professional shows, but we need you to do what we ask you to do. Hoster 2.212 is EXPECTED to release (read not committed so don't ask if it isn't) Friday this week. Watch the News Page for the announcement, and the home page also. [b]If some of you will attach a KMA file to your post, we can test them here at MTU. If we have 3-4 to test with, that gives us a good confidence on our results. If we see the video and audio problems, we can solve them. :w |
Here's my DxDiag info.
|
Please... please... please...
We need 3 to 4 PHP KMA files to test with. We can't do any diagnostics on this problem with some test files that show up bad on your system.
Zip one at a time up (so it's not a massive .zip file) and attach each to a separate post, as you can only do one attachment per post. We are waiting for test files... if you want us to help solve this problem. No test files, no diagnostics on our part. :e Work with us and get us some KMA zipped files. :w :c |
Trying to send you some zipped up files, but won't go. Don't know what is wrong, maybe too big. maybe can Email to you. I have older Pop Hits Monthly that work fine just these newer ones that don't work.
BIG DADDY |
I'm at work. Can't get you the .zip files until I get home.
If anyone else wants to post one, try PHM0404-06 (My Immortal). Otherwise, I'll need to put one up tonight. Oh, and also the Pop Hits version of "I Love This Bar" (Which gets sung EVERY NIGHT), is another problem song for us. |
audio dropout answers
Today, I had to find some answers to stop the audio dropouts that are now on many of my songs. I totally uninstalled all of Hoster, and then reinstalled it, per advice of the forum. This didn't help clear things up at all, so I uninstalled it again, and used my Hoster 2.014 disk to reinstall. The audio dropouts are all gone!!
My history of Hoster is, I started with 2.014, then purchased a $50. upgrade and my audio dropouts seemed to begin. I thought upgrading to 2.209 would fix these, but it didn't. I even paid for a tech to go through my laptop to try and figure it out, but they say there is nothing wrong with the laptop. I will keep an eye out here for a fix on this but until then, I have no choice but to go backwards and use 2.014. |
I enabled KMA attachment file extensions

Start a new post, scroll to the bottom of the page and find the Attach file: section, click the Browse... button, locate your kma file to send and click the Open button. Its filename should then appear in the field to the left of the Browse... button. We really want some files, so thanks for trying. You'll get it the hang of this soon! :w |
This is one of the PHM songs I am having audio dropouts in. It seems to be only the newer PHM disks, I have older ones that have no problems and either do any of my other disks. Use on two different computers have the same problem.
Thanks BIG DADDY |

Let's take a different approach...
You folks have the problem, which many others do not. Thus we suspect there is something wrong with your systems.
For example, Tymzend, your dxdiag shows you have added a Wireless network box to your MTU Portable PC, which BTW, breaks the MTU warranty. When you do something like that, and then post that your "MTU Portable PC won't work", it reflects badly on our system that we carefully engineer to work. So... we allowed you to download and install Hoster 2.212 yesterday and last night. Post back here what you find out. |
