Chris,
You know, now that you state you updated the firmware to version 1.06, this is not what we shipped the drive to you with on it. We have not yet tested this updated firmware to see if it has any problems. I will install a drive in the morning and test it, to see what happens.

I will then let you know. Normally when you get the error that you are stating, the drive has a problem.

Brian,

I only updated the firmware because the version you shipped did not work.

I have already contacted Plextor-their support team says that since your program is the only time it does not work it is your software.

Chris,
I looked at the website also, because I also have the 708a. it is running the 1.05 firmware. from what the website says it upgraded the table to include different cd's as coatings, and construction materials change over time.

I am running a plextor 708a as are many other users, and we have no problems. I find it hard to believe that the program will work correctly on many others 708a, and not on yours unless there is a problem with the drive.

Also what is even stranger is I can burn with this drive within musicmatch. Musicmatch is a program where you can download songs (not Karaoke) and burn them.
The point here is for burning r-w subcodes for the Karaoke. These are parts of a cd that is not written to with music match, or for that matter all regular disk.

I have had drives that wouldnt write a song to track 1 be it karaoke, or music. If a drive looses its alignment, you will see this problem as well as the one you have. blaming a programmer for a bad drive is a real easy out for most mfg's.

But the fact remains Plextor 708a will work with all MTU Products I have used it with.

I tested with the 1.06 version of Firmware and the drive that I was testing with still worked fine.
