Skybird,
Beta 14 was the first release of 5.08 so this is what you are running. As to the Audio issues I will be calling each of you today, or you can email me at support@mtu.com with a good time to reach you. We are working on this, and not able to cause it on our systems.

Best time for me is 3:30 as have gigs all day after that. We'll get our computers hooked up eventually, too. Just gotta get our timing down.

No audio issues with B14. I have not yet installed the Release version.

Sorry, I didn't read this in time. I assumed you had my number as your Dad had called me several times in the past. I'll email you tomorrow with another time and the number. Thx.

Dave

The same thing has happened to me. The new Hoster 5.08 quarantined 500 of my songs. I tried to index them (they are KMA files) using the index function and selecting KMA Files. I pointed it to the Quarantine folder and the indexing function said there were no files there! There surely is 500 files there. How do I get them into Hoster to play?

when did you download the update ?
A quick fix was brought out after DEC 3rd, make sure you have the fixed version first which shows a . after version# (5.08.) when you read it from the Help/about Hoster dialog.

If you have the correct version copy or move the files from the quarantine folder back into their original folder then rebuild again.

If you don't have the correct version re-download again.

Regarding your help ticket, did you get an immediate auto response with a ticket # , if not have you checked your spam folder or the email address you used ?

I don't really know why you should have this problem regarding audio drop out when searching with 5.08 that you do not have in 5.07. Support has not been able to replicate the problem but has indicated that they are working on it in post #21 of this thread, they may have meant you when answering that post, try sending an email to support to the address indicated in that post, they may suggest hooking up to your computer to try and sort the problem, you won't get any response now till Monday as they don't work weekends.

The only thing that changed to my knowledge with the search was to allow the * wildcard search again that was removed in 5.07 as that was known to cause drop outs so I assume you are not referring to when using that feature ?
As you don't mention a brand name for your computer only the processor type I assume these are desktop computers and not laptops ?

Are you using more than one sound card ?
If so are they both internal or is one a usb sound card ?

Do you use a usb mixer to output your audio ?

When using the search feature does it always cause the drop outs or only when it lists lots of entries ?

When you search and get this drop out, are you selecting other fields to sort on other than the defaulted fields ?
I repeat I don't know why you are getting this problem but answering the above may make it easier to try to duplicate the problem so as to find a cure.
Some thing you could try is Tools/audio controls, try raising the # in the prevent audio drop outs box.

Right now I am in the middle of a show. I upgraded Hoster to latest release last week. Tonight, it has crashed twice. The problem is that when I restart Hoster doesn't have the playlist and I have to call all my patrons to request the songs again. Very embarrasing situation after 4 years in a row at the same bar. Please all, suggest what I may be doing wrong:?

What is the exact version number? And when did it crash, during a song, in between songs, and was there a messages saying Hoster needed to close, or did Hoster just disappear off the screen?

To add to bryants reply, when you check "What is the exact version number?"

Do you see . after the 5.08 (5.08.) ? Check it from the Help/About Hoster.

Also when you say there is no playlist, do you see a list of playlist from the menu File/open ?

Did you upgrade from 5.07 or some other version ?

Re: Post Hoster 5.08 Problems here

Version 5.08 installed last week. Since then Hoster has crashed continually. My set up is the same and I upgraded from 4.32 (I'm not 100% sure) didn't have any problems till the upgrade. It has happened while I'm searching, while I'm moving songs on the playlist or simply while it is playing and nobody is touching the computer. Hoster simply stops playing and its windows turns white then another window warns about the crash.

I am not complaining about the crashes, well maybe a little since it has crashed more this last week than in two years but my complain is that the requested songs disappear when I reopen Hoster (without shutting down the computer). It crashes with all the requested songs, I reopen it and then I have to call the customer to request the songs again because it reopens empty. Now, I am writing down everyone's songs just like when I used CD's to do my show. I feel that I walked backwards with the upgrade.

My computer is an ASUS dedicated for Hoster Windows 7 64 bits, all is updated and clean. Never had this problem before. :?

Did you update your Codecs? There is lot of new things added since 4.32 that require all the updates for Hoster to work properly.

Re: Post Hoster 5.08 Problems here

You didn't answer all the questions as asked in my previous reply?

If you shut Hoster down with songs in the playlist, do those songs reappear the next time you open Hoster or is the playlist blank ?

If it reopens blank It is probably because your registry has got corrupted.
Place a couple of files in the playlist, then go to the top menu and select File/Save As when the dialog opens brows to C\MTU\Hoster folder name the file in the file name field something like test 1 then press save.
This may reset the registry to remember the file path.

Then try again closing Hoster And reopening and see if it remembers the playlist.

As far as your keep crashing there are a number of extra settings in 5.08 that were not in 4.32
Also have you updated your windows and media player recently to the latest versions.

Thanks, Roy. I didn't respond to the Playlist problem. Obviously, codecs won't solve that problem.:)

I recently upgraded from 4.11 and only have had issues with hoster crashing when I would click PLAY for someone to sing. Have had the audio background running. This past Monday night. I only had Hoster running and I crashed once. No background music. I was running fill music from our backup computer. 1st rotation was fine. 2nd rotation...all songs that have a key down...the music sounds garbled. I removed hoster last night. Reinstalled and it's still there. I need some help really bad. This computer is only a couple of months old.

Toshiba P875-S7200 i5-3210M @ 2.50 ghz 6gb ram 64bit. win 7 with all updates

First of have you checked you have all the latest windows updates including the latest windows media player ?
Also make sure if you have an antivirus installed it is not running a scheduled scan at the same time.

Regarding the key down problem, try messing with the Tools/Audio Controls "Prevent audio drop outs" settings it should be defaulted to 10, experiment with other settings to see if it improves it.

Thank you for your response,
I have done all of these things and the sound is still awful if the key is changed in either direction. As I mentioned before It has been fine except for some crashes and it was fine on New Years Eve in the first rotation, the sound messed up in the second rotation. I'm wondering if I should just wipe the computer clean and start over. Any advice before I make that decision?

The intermittent audio problem for some people is being worked on by MTU. Don't think you need to start over. Other suggestions have been made to handle this, such as Tool/Audio offset settings. Different settings work for different computers. Hope this helps for now. I believe a fix will be available soon.
