When you do the Add Folder then you would start with the C:\ drive, click the "+" sign to the left of that then find hostersongs under that and click on that folder, then click OK. That will add the correct folder. Just FYI since you have found most of them.

You are not the only one out there that has had this problem. The database only knows the location of the files that you told it. If you move those files then the database is wrong and Hoster will not find the songs.
So be careful what you do. Use the edit to delete files and don't move them before you do this.
Glad you stuck with me and we got this fixed.:g ANytime you have a question about what you are wanting to do ask in here first before you start.

you should be a member of the mtu staff, i have called or emailed them so many times the last 5 years, when i first started with them the tech support was the best i have ever seen, that is why i spent more money on hoster than buying a cheaper program, within time they stopped all their call backs and now it takes days to get hold of you IF they do even call, if i have not had so much money invested in this, ( i bought the whole pc and everything) i would throw it all out the window and try something else, thank you again and now back to work here for me, THANK YOU

Dale, I am posting this on here because it has to do with the songs database , or more specifically the folders which the songs are located in. You can move the post if you think it's different from the original post. My question is, how can I move all songs into 1 folder and have Hoster find them. I have songs distributed in 5 different folders because on a few occasions when I went to import songs, it fills the screen with hundreds of songs to import including the ones I want to import. The songs it puts on there are already imported except for the new ones which I just added and then it goes through all of them which takes a long time before importing the new ones. And yes I do have the box ticked to hide imported songs, but it shows them anyway. It doesn't do this all the time, it has happened only a few times thus the 5 folders. The last time it happened was last week and it loaded 600 some odd songs when I was trying to import 20 something songs, so I stopped the import process, created another folder, pasted the songs in that folder, and imported. There is another reason I want to put them all in 1 folder and that is because the last 2 weekends I have had a problem with Hoster freezing up on cue and not going to play, so I had to use Microstudio to perform. I think I know what's going on with Hoster and how to get it fixed, I'll post later if I can't fix it, but by using Microstudio, a singer comes up for a song, and I have to look in 5 different folders to find the song which is very time consuming, and of course you can't do any searches when MS is playing or it will cut it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you move them all to a single folder, all you have to do is Rebuild the Database with just that folder listed. It will pick up all the information from the KMA and KMH files.

The only reason I can think of for this happening is if you have gone into the folders and deleted the Imported text file. This is how Hoster records and reads which ones have been imported and which haven't.

The question here is what version of Hoster are you using?
What operating system?
And when was the last time you updated from Microsoft?

Dale, thanx for the tip on rebuilding the database. I thought that was the way to go, but I wanted to make sure.

On deleting the text file in folders, that doesn't happen. At least not by me. I run maintenance programs that delete junk files, but if that was the case, the import screen would do the same thing much more often since the maintenance programs are run at least once a week, and if it was the maintenance program deleting the text files, the import screen would list those songs every week. By the way, when it lists the songs, it goes through all of them and realizes that they have been imported, it just takes forever to get through them all.

Dale, it was my fault why Hoster freezes to begin with. I was running version 4.22 when I got this duplicate finder type program to weed out dupes from mostly Media Player. When I checked Hoster, it started the freezing on cue, (it was doing fine before), so I went to the recycle bin and restored everything back to their particular folders, but Hoster still kept freezing on cue and not going to play. That part is my fault. I went and paid for the upgrade to 4.32 and installed. When it comes to the screen that has the box to check if you want to install with fresh settings, I left it unchecked because I didn't want to lose my instabuttons. Once installed, Hoster worked correctly here at my home, even though it still was a little slow getting off the cue, but at the venue where I play it stays frozen. Out of 8 or 9 times I tried it, it worked once, and it was very slow to get off cue and go to play. As to operating system, I'm running Windows 7, and usually every few weeks I check Windows update to see if there is something to get, but I haven't done it in a month or so. I guess I need to check MS Update again. As far as specs; Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 2.33 Mhz, 6 gb installed physical memory, 12 gb virtual memory, NVidia GeForce GT120 1 gb ram.

And of course you have done all the changes required for Hoster to run correctly on Windows 7?
Might be good to uninstall and re-install 4.32. Could be that your duplicate finder removed something that it shouldn't have.

For the importing you may need to uncheck and then recheck that box for hiding imported files to get it to recognize correctly. Could be the sheer number of files in the folder.

Yes I've done all the changes. I plan on reinstalling 4.32 with the box checked to remove all settings and checking to see if that fixes the problem. As far as unchecking and rechecking the hide imported files, I'll try that. And as always thanx for your help.

Walt,
Both of these problems were more complicated than that. To restore back to a previous date would lose song files imported since that date or add files back in that the user wanted to delete or move. If these factors were not involved then a restore might have worked.
