I can't say as I didn't try to save trial runs.Perhaps Brian tried saving demo. I'd guess that limitation's built into the demo, just like Microstudio.

I down loaded it to try and I must say it's very good (might buy).
Yes you can only convert 30 seconds to wav, one of the restriction's with the demo vertion. I have always used cakewalk
and been very happy, until now. Most impressed.

I have found some really solid midi files out there I am anxious to put into KHP. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure some of the current mfg's aren't already using some of them.
Once I get the full version next week, I will be wearing out my thumb (like Brian) hammering out some new stuff.

Hey guys,
I got in the Edirol program and have produced 10 songs to cd+g.
I have to really search hard to find some good ones, but this program worked wonders. Once converted to a .wav file and played back through my Pro equipment some of the songs actually sounded better that some of the cd+g's I have purchased.

Been beating on my spacebar quite a bit thanks to Edirol. Even took a real crappy sounding MIDI and by changing instruments and adjusting volumes, managed to wind up with a rather presentable "MIDIOKE" :g

What a wealth of material to draw upon to produce one's own

Hey George,

I have not had a lot of success changing instruments and then saving those changes to a wave file. Any ideas on what I may be missing? I can remove an instrument and convert it fine.

Let's see if I can explain this so's it makes any sense.
Click on SET UP.
click on RECEIVE EVENTS.
unclick RECEIVE SOUND MODULE RESET MESSAGES block only.
click APPLY.
do not click ALL OFF or you won't get full orchestration, at least I don't.

Now let's say you want to lower the volume of a particular instrument.
Click the volume tab on the right hand side.
Identify the number of the instrument you want to change.
go into SET UP and RECEIVE EVENTS and unclick the instrument number in the volume row.
Click APPLY and exit.
Note the green light has dimmed on the slider of the instrument you unchecked. You can now control the level of that instrument and save the changes to WAV. Same applies to the other five settings.

To change an instrument completely click on the orange bar containing the instrument name and select the new instrument.

As long as the RECEIVE SOUND MODULE RESET MESSAGES box is left unchecked, all changes will be saved. If it is checked, program saves to it's default settings. I leave mine unchecked all the time.

Hope I didn't muddy this up too badly.:)

Thanks a million for the tip.
I have now created about 2 disks full of midioke discs, and I must say, they are not half bad.
After creating the song in KHP and burning the cd+g, I think the sound quality is even better.
I have a long way to go, but I think I am going to master this stuff and produce some good stuff.

George is right. We all owe KJZONE a big thanks for introducing us to this program. Not only does it allow us to produce some great midioke (not bad at all) it works seamlessly with KHP. Once you make your changes to the .midi file, it converts it to the exact specifications KHP is looking for for a .wav file.
By the way George, it you or any of the other members would like to share some of the better files you have found, I would be very interested. Maybe we could save each other some time searching.
This is not the place to do it, but I would welcome emails.

Thought you'd like that word "Midioke". Accidentally coined it yesterday when talking to my wife about the Edirol program used in conjunction with KHP,and she liked the word.

If you don't get much of a response from me regarding sharing files, it's certainly not through lack of willingness, but rather a feeling that now that we have the capability to re-structer a MIDI
file and turn a frog into a prince, it all boils down to one's individual song preferences.

Hope I'm making sense.

Brian, sorry to hear that. Not much consolation, but you might pass some of the time reviewing the songs you're going to use, getting the lyrics arranged to fit, entered into the p.c., and ready to go.

l have read so many good things on this forum about the Roland Virtual Canvas that I dl the demo. It obviously has a lot of adjustments I do not understand. Hi George,

Don't mind discussing Edirol here as it opens up a whole new world of music to be used with the MTU products. Would like to see Edirol and MTU linked to each other. Would be mutually advantageous.

As you can see there are three sections to the program. The Display(top) and player(bottom) both have a button marked SETUP. Click either one then click HELP. This takes you to the manual.

I don't know whether the demo version lets you save your work or not, but the instructions are not clear on saving your modifications to the program. Won't try to confuse you at this point, but once you are comfortable using the program and are having difficulty saving your changes and converting from MIDI to .WAV, post back and we'll give you the missing info. Hope this approach makes sense to you. If not, let me know and we'll give you the whole load now.

I was not aware that Roland had built in help menus or how to access them. Thanks. Thats why I was looking for a manual. It is nice for studing and learning the functions at your leasure. I am really looking for a tutoral of some kind that shows you different ways to edit music at the same time I am looking for the good quality midi. Most of my songs are in MP3 format and I want to remove vocals, I really like the better and fuller background sounds you get with these. However, some of the midi I have listened to sound pretty good also just no background vocals. I am not a professional KJ just having fun with the music.

I've not found a way of saving modifyed midi's to wave in VSC.
when I go to save as WAV after modifying, it reverts back to the original file.
Can you let me know please as it could save me a lot of time.
At the moment I am modifying in Cakewalk and writing the WAV
file in VSC. I know I'm being lazy but it would help.

When you click the Audio Convert tab, at the bottom of the screen that pops up, next to conversion method, make certain to check "Convert with the same settings as used for the song"
Brian Corr and I wrestled with that one for a week or so a while back, and he spotted it.:)
