Musicman51 is incorrect in the way he stated this in his initial post. He did not purchase 4.21 and then have to purchase 4.22. His last purchase was 12 months ago or more. Therefore he is not paying for upgrading from 1 version to the next one, but paying to upgrade from the last upgrade he did pay for and all those functions added in that time period.
The 4.22 fixes were to fix problems that a small group of users were having and those were all using Windows 7. If 4.21 works fine for you then you don't need to get 4.22.

Sorry about that. You are right, I didn't look back at the post. It was TheMusicGeek who said that. My apologies to you.

I think bug fixes should be MTU's problem. That's not an upgrade but a repair.

We have coverted all our KMA files to MP3G Zipped files and are exploring our programs at this time. Several of our folks are now using Sax & Dotty's Show Presenter in Mexico and swear by it. We will see.

We have had many embarrassing moments at our show since 4 came out.

sleflar....If you're bent on using an inferior product far be it from any of us to stop you..adios you will be missed.

That being said, 99.99% of the time, any operational issues end users experience. Has not been the fault of the software program, includes mtu.:)

Now gentlemen I think this will be the last I will have to say about this subject. I understand your feelings and I have tried to state a view from the other side. Nothing more can be said.
If anyone has any problems they want to discuss or help with please post it in another thread.

Re: Paying MTU to fix their bugs?

Well 4.22 looks like bug fixes and not an upgrade. I rest my case.

Video Hoster® 4.22 Changes
Note: We are now updating the Import Database monthly, available for download early each month within the Hoster download. In version 4.22 we were finally able to fix some long standing bugs;
  1. Lyrics Out-of-Sync on some computers; the first song played with the lyrics in sync, but on the second and higher songs the lyrics were out-of-sync
  2. Crashing when using Remove Silence
  3. Random crashing on Vista and Windows 7 after hours of operation (you now need to upgrade your computer to the latest Direct-X and Windows Media Player versions)
  4. Default DVD Drive selection was not persistent with 64-Bit Vista or Windows 7

Why do you feel you needed to PAY for these fixes?:? If you had gotten any of the 4.x (with major upgrades like Importing Videos), then you wouldn't be paying for any of the 4.x "fixes". If you are waiting 12 months before upgrading, then you are paying for & getting everything - upgrades as well as fixes. Sorry, I had to add my 2cents.:c

Re: Paying MTU to fix their bugs?

I have always been a big fan of Hoster. I know that they have been having problems but we have been working through them during our shows and our credibilty has been in question knowing that eventually they would fix them. I have been as patient as I can be and now I find out that my licence expired 4 months ago under the "new licencing rules" and now have to spend another $70.00. Are you kidding me? I have been using a product that has caused me problems for several months and now you want me to pay another $70.00 that doesn't guarantee me that the problems I've had in the past are not going to be resolved? PLEASE! Please say in ain't so!!!!!

Mackie, i used the same software you did...my credibility was never in question....I know i'm a missin' some'um here..but dang if i can tell what it tiz....Just a little light hearted humor...

Re: Paying MTU to fix their bugs?

Maybe I overreacted. Our customers have never questioned our creditability, but when you start a gig, you and the people that are singing expect to have the show uninterrupted. I don't mind having glitches now and then, but when I'm being forced to RENEW a contract for a product that is is defective, that is a slap in the face. I hope that Hoster will reconsider their license policy until the product turns out to be reliable. Just frustrated, that's all I have to say.

I upgrade my software when a change comes along on a regular basis. It hasn't been twelve months ago. Am I missing something?

what did you mean that your "license expired 4 months ago":?
However, what I wrote was in response to "sleflar" on 9/4.:w

In all due respect Musicman51, I don't believe that's quite true. It depends when you started with 4.xxxx. If you started early, the year is up.

Re: Paying MTU to fix their bugs?

Gentlemen, I am sorry that I have not had time to INFORM you of our policy. We are trying to get a Blog, Facebook and Twitter up and running so we can keep in touch better.

Now, here are some points, that from your posts, you do not understand:

1. You DO NOT have to pay for bug repair versions. Our new Registration system has many important positive features, albeit it does enforce our 12-month upgrade policy where in the past we waited, and waited, and waited for our web master to upgrade our scripts to enforce 12-months. I allowed you to have free upgrades. Consider it a gift, that now has stopped.

2. When you buy an upgrade, you don't get an "Upgrade RegCode" any more.

3. Your OLD OLD OLD RegCode can now install the latest 4.30. Now that was a real trick!

4. You no longer need to hold onto your "Full Hoster RegCode" to first install and then use your Upgrade RegCode. Also, you are no longer required to have a "prior version" installed in order to install an Upgrade.

5. We now have a "Releases Table" at our web site. I back date all releases that I feel are mainly bug fixes so if you can install the original "main" release of new features, you CAN install the following versions with the bug fixes. I am extremely liberal on the back dating. For example:

Hoster 4.20 released 2010-03-02
Hoster 4.21 released 2010-05-27 and installs free if you install 4.21
Hoster 4.22 released 2010-06-24 and installs free if you install 4.21

The fixes in 4.22 alone have been worked on for years, costing MTU $$,$$$ tens of thousands. Think about it... would YOU give it away FREE as we are doing if it cost you that?

Hoster 4.07 released 2009-02-23
Hoster 4.08 released 2009-02-26 and installs free if you install 4.07
Hoster 4.09 released 2009-05-26 and installs free if you install 4.07
Hoster 4.09a released 2009-05-28 and installs free if you install 4.07
Hoster 4.09b released 2009-06-03 and installs free if you install 4.07
Hoster 4.09c released 2009-06-09 and installs free if you install 4.07
Hoster 4.09d released 2009-06-23 and installs free if you install 4.07
Hoster 4.10 released 2009-09-23 (with MASSIVE NEW features) and installs free if you install 4.07

Hoster 3.316 released 2007-03-08
Hoster 3.317 released 2007-11-08 and installs free if you install 3.316
Hoster 3.318 released 2007-12-29 and installs free if you install 3.316
Hoster 3.319 released 2008-02-20 and installs free if you install 3.316
Hoster 3.320 released 2008-02-28 and installs free if you install 3.316
Hoster 3.321 released 2008-03-11 and installs free if you install 3.316
Hoster 3.321a released 2008-05-16 and installs free if you install 3.316

We also have added FREE Live Chat to our web site that you can instantly chat with either Sales or Support. They are on-line Mon-Fri, most of the time from 9:30AM to 5:00PM. It has all but stopped our phones from ringing, which used to be a constant stream all day long. How many companies give you free, quality support for YEARS?

Every company we deal with charges us upwards of $2,500 EVERY YEAR for the right to use their software. With some we can't even run the version we paid for last year, or the year before if we don't cough up BIG BUCKS. I doubt their development costs are much higher than ours, but we only charge you from $9.99 to $69.99 for 12-months of upgrades and FREE support.

We DO NOT require you to order every 12 months. If you don't like what you see, don't upgrade. It's your choice. Unlike OUR software vendors, we don't discontinue your right to run our software.

Maybe you were not aware that we update our Import (bucket.mdb) database monthly. Our Hoster Upgrade fee includes this monthly database upgrade. If you watch our Download Site (click our "Support" navigation link, then the "Download" button), you will see around the first of each month that the number of new track records increases between 5,000 up to 8,000. All you need to do is download the current Hoster version and install it to have the updated database.

We have just updated our software tool we use to add new DiscID-Tracks to the Import Database. We hope it will now allow us to spend the same time, but add over 10,000 new tracks a month. We are excited about this. The Database upgrade is included with your Hoster subscription. :w

I hope this helps you understand what we have done, and how it is designed to benefit you.
