would changing the ext. hhd. with another drive ( back-up )and changing the destination folder from F: to E: and not rebuilding it ,would solve the problem?

No you do not have to do anything to the database when you import songs. Only if you copy KMA files imported on one computer to another computer. Then you have to Add or Rebuild.
Re-installing 4.06 is not going to change anything dealing with the database. The damage is done. I am not sure what exactly has happened but I still think she had duplicate BookIDs.
The only other thing I can think of is to delete the database files and rebuild the database from new. I would re-install 4.11 first as it did not cause this problem.

If you do this and don't rebuild then it will still be looking on F: for the files not E:. If you change out the drive to the back-up drive she will have to re-import the new files unless they have already been put on the back up.

that's what i did , she brought me her back-up drive, and i deleted the songs from her show drive and then copied the songs from her back-up , and rebuilt ,that did the trick, just in time for their show at 9pm :g thanks for your help/suggestions.

audio started skipping

did all the work on her laptop yesterday, solved all the missing files and name changes,i played a few songs and everything was perfect, but last night at her show i got a call and she said that in the second hr. of her show the audio started skipping, she ended up using her back-up laptop with v4.06, don't know what else to do..

ddouglass October 14th, 2009 08:12 PM

Version 4.11 has a lot more going on and requires more resources. This is probably building up to the point that the skipping starts.
Now it may be time to go to BlackViper and turn off some of the background processes.
You might also try the clean-up program SystemCare to help get the computer up to speed.
She may not be able to use the Background Audio or the Visualizations as those add more load.

she didnt have any of the skipping problem when she was using v.4.10, which she uses for 4 hrs. at one of her shows ,the only thing she couldn't use( still can't use ) was the BA since all her dj tunes are all aac's, she started having problems when she imported some songs , and i fixed that by deleting the songs from her show ext. drive and copying the same songs from her back-up back to her show drive..

ddouglass October 15th, 2009 02:48 PM

Then for the time being I would stop her at 4.10 and leave it at that as long as she was not having the crashing problem with it. And if she was seeing that then go back to 4.09d. The only changes 4.11 made were to fix the crashing some were experiencing, fix some Edit tool problems and the BA volume control so it should not be any different than 4.10 outside of those items.
Is she playing any of her DJ tunes during her shows? If so then that would mean she was running another program along with Hoster 4.11 or 4.10. I know there are conversion programs out there for AAC that she could convert them to MP3 so she would only have one program open.

i re-installed 4.10 back, put in about 2hrs. worth of songs in the playlist ,didn't get any skipping, but it crashed on me once and hr. into playing the songs." hoster has encountered a problem has to closed "...she was't playing any dj songs, since all her tunes are aac,

4,10 did have a crash problem which is the main reason for the 4.11. I just don't understand why she is having skips in 4.11 and not in 4.10??? There is so littile difference.
Maybe take her back to 4.09d which I know was very stable and no skips reported. Then when you get a chance work on the 4.11 problem.
How big is the C: drive and how much free space is on it?

c: drive had 60gb with 42.2 gb free space and ext. had 300gb with 23.3gb free space left,( all her kma files are in ext. dr ) yeah the 4.10 crashed in the mid. of the song and i got it back up within a few sec. and continued on without any problem..is 3.4 still included in v4xxx, i was just gonna load just in case, just can't find it ..

ddouglass October 15th, 2009 10:18 PM

Sounds like the C: drive is ok. Not sure about the external. Have you tried defragmenting both drives. That would speed up transfer of data.
No 3.4 is no longer in the 4.10 or 4.11. This was a measure done for the early unstable versions of 4.XX that is no longer needed.
Have you run SystemCare or System Mechanic on her laptop? Those are system clean-up programs that will help speed up the computer.

i ended up re-installing 4.06, i wanted to run systemcare/mechanic but i dont wanna do something that i am not familiar ,since its not my laptop .but anyway i'll just leave it to where its at..thanks for all your suggestion..

Why are you going back to 4.06 instead of 4.09?
Neither of those programs are going to cause irreperable damage. They allow you to recover any thing they do. These are not just registry cleaners, but fix a number of problems both security and speed robbing. They have both been recommended by MTU and I use them myself on all my critical computers. They do help eliminate or stop things that slowdown the computer and take up unecessary processor time.

if thats the case ill go ahead and try them and i'll install 4.09, the reason i went back to 4.06 was that's was that last one she had on her laptop.

i tried to use SystemCare/Mechanic , downloaded the program, did all the scan etc. and found some stuff that needs fixing, but then i got a msg. " if i need to get it fix i have to get/buy the program. i thought it was free, i didnt wanna buy it since it's not my laptop i was working on, and also i read after the downloading the program, that it was actually a registry cleaner...but anyway i re-load 4.11 and put in about 4 hrs. worth of songs in the playlist ( loading songs every hour ) on auto mode, it all went well till the last 19 min. msg. popped up " Hoster needs to shut down" ( which i think is not that bad, since 19 min. is almost at the very end of a show anyway).. i will try it in man. mode tonight..see if it works without shutting down..

ddouglass October 22nd, 2009 06:37 PM

It is free to check, then you have to buy. If she wants to buy one I would recommend the System Mecahnic as it can be installed on three computers for the price instead of one. Maybe you could both go together and buy it, sharing the installa and cost. Yes they both clean up the registry. These are tried and true useful cleaners rather than some of the other garbage that is out there.
Search for System Mechanic 9, go to their web site and you will see that it does a whole lot more than just clean up the registry. It also defragments the registry, backs up the registry, defragments hard drives (better than Windows) and helps delete junk files, cleans up and helps increase internet speed, defragments memory, and a lot more. It is well worth the money.
