In the interim I tried the 3.4 version to see if I would still had the same problem- and it does not do it on that version-it peaks to 64- with uploading a cdg while a kma is playing- so it is definitely the 4.0 version that is taking up more memory- or something- I am trying to cut/paste the processes list-

Cool. 3.4 is a little more tolerant because of the lack of features that require computer horsepower. Most notably the singer's database and the singer's display. We can get around it though. My show machine has less horsepower than yours and I run fine. The trick is to not have any competition for the system resources.

I got your list. I am going to take a little time and look carefully at the list. I will get back to you.

What I am going to ask you to do is pull up task manager. Highlight files and end process. After doing so, test Hoster to see if your problems go away. If we can narrow down the offending parties, you can disable or uninstall those programs.

taskmgr.exe- 4,912k This is where you got the list. This is fine

jucheck.exe- 5,040k Java checker. Resource hog. It checks for Java updates continuously. You can disable from the Java script settings, or just kill the process for now

ctfmon.exe- 3,444k MS Office Alternative Input. Resource Hog. Run the MS Office setup and set to disable.

csrss.exe-2,916k Windows graphics file. This one is needed

NCprotray.exe-2,696 Samsung Natural Color. Not Necessary. Disable or un-install

syntplpr.exe-2,672 Touchpad Driver. Better keep this one.

iexplore.exe- 19,928 Internet Explorer. Keep this one.

1Xcinfig.exe- 4,908 OEM driver for USB connections. Keep for now.

explore.exe 39,416k Safe

windofix.exe-6,404k Registry cleaner. Does it need to be running all the time?? I think not.

msmgs.exe- 2.024k Messenger. I always un-install this as a matter of course.

zcfgsvc.exe-7,728k Wireless card. I wouldn't run it durring a show.

windowsearh.exe- 11,212k MSN Search Toolbar. Definitely not needed. Kill it.

ccscshst.exe-1,916k If you mean ccsvchst.exe, that is Norton AV. I would not have it running. As a matter of fact, I'm not a big fan of this product, but at least disable it during a show.

jusched.exe-4,088k Another Java updater. Oink Oink, resource hog.

wscntfy.exe- 2,232 Windows security center. Better keep for now.

ifrmewrtk.exe-8,028 Wireless network. I would keep for now.

syntpenh.exe-4,624 Touchpad. Keep it.

pdvdserv.exe- 3,080 PowerDVD. Allows you to use a remote when you are watching movies. How many movies do you watch while you are doing a show? Kill it.

hkcmd.exe-3,852 Intel Hotkey commands. But it also was used as the name for a virus inthe past. It is not needed. Kill it and see if it comes back.

winlogon.exe- 1,160k WIndows login. Keep it.

hoster,exe.-28,136 Pretty obvious.

I have to go check on the bar. I will be back in a couple of hours to check in on you. If you don't get finished with the testing, I will holla back in the AM.

jucheck.exe- 5,040k This one needs to be stopped, but you need to stop it through the Java settings which is in the control panel.
ctfmon.exe- 3,444k
csrss.exe-2,916k
NCprotray.exe-2,696 This one is a Samsung process for "Natural Color" and isn't needed either.
syntplpr.exe-2,672 Do you use the Touchpad or a mouse?
iexplore.exe- 19,928
1Xcinfig.exe- 4,908 This is a USB utility that shows you what is happening on your USB ports. Unfortunately it is also a memory hog. This needs to go.
explore.exe 39,416k
windofix.exe-6,404k This is a Registry cleaner and I am not sure why it has a process running, but this too needs to be shutdown.
msmgs.exe- 2.024k If this isn't a typo then you have a virus and Norton's should have caught it. If it should be MSMSGS.EXE then it should be disabled by doing this. Disable it as follows: Start -> Programs -> Windows Messenger -> Tools -> Options -> Preferences. Uncheck "Run this program when Windows Starts".
zcfgsvc.exe-7,728k This is Zero Configuration for Wireless network cards. If you don't use Wireless Network this Service can be disabled.
windowsearh.exe- 11,212k
ccscshst.exe-1,916k
jusched.exe-4,088k Same as JUcheck above.
wscntfy.exe- 2,232 This should not be showing up unless you have a Security problem as in Virus program out of date, Updates needed, or a Firewall issue.
ifrmewrtk.exe-8,028 Another Wireless Internet settings control.
syntpenh.exe-4,624
pdvdserv.exe- 3,080 This is for running a Remote Control for PowerDVD which I doubt you haveThis needs to be stopped too.
hkcmd.exe-3,852 This is for Keyboard Hotkeys. If you don't use them disable the service.
winlogon.exe- 1,160k
hoster,exe.-28,136

If I didn't put anything next to a line, then it is a necessary process. Mark I am sure will have more to say on it. I didn't have time to research how to get rid of some of these but we can do that tomorrow.

Dale/Mark

Thanks so much for all of your help so far- the ones that should be taken out- do I just go to the add/remove program file? I have not had a chance to work on it today- I will probably start on it again in the a.m.

Thanks.
Again!

Susan

I doubt that any of them can be stopped/removed through the Add/Remove programs.
The Java has its own Control Panel icon.
Some will have to removed from the registry in HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. To get there Go to Start\Run, type "regedit" in the block and hit enter. Then follow the path to get to the folder Run.
Look in the file path in the entries there for any of the items I marked that need to be stopped.
What you can't find there we will get to later. Don't want to overload you all at once.:g

A good idea for testing purposes is to do a CTRL ALT DEL and bring up Task manager. End the processes that you think might cause a problem and then check Hoster. If you do this and happen to end a process you shouldn't have, it will be back when you restart the computer. This may have already been suggested. :)
