Mike,
A drunk pushed over my TV monitor two weeks ago and busted it beyond repair. I got a new one at "Wally World" for less than $100. The only thing is it has RCA inputs, no S-video. :r. Have you tested the RCA inputs on your "non LCD" monitor using a DVD player or a VCR (man I'm old :t) player?

Sure did Jim. The s video out on my laptop is the issue. Does anyone know about s video settings. Thats the only thing I can thin of other than a hardware problem.

BTW. How did you handle the situation with the broken tv?

The only settings you have for the Svideo out Mike is to set the resolution, refresh rate etc. in the display information for the secondary monitor. There are no other controls for it.

Needless to say I got a little upset and had the bouncers remove drunk from the room. I've been at this club for over three years and the bouncers were not policing the crowd well enought to prevent these types of things from happening so I made a quick decison to use this incident to my advantage.

Instead of going home and getting my $350 LCD/DVD player (They already broke my $100 TV, why give them a more expensive one to bust. :e) I packed up my stuff taking a $100 loss in pay and went home. When I got there I wrote a letter to the owner (who I have never spoken to about karaoke, it just works and he was happy with the numbers) explainging what happened. I wrote a set of rules that the bouncers must enforce (nobody on the stage but the singers, don't let anybody touch my equiptment etc..) and I required a $50 a night increase in pay then I took the letter to the bar before they closed (the place was a ghost town when normally thay are kicking folks out at 2am). I didn't get a call from anybody so I didn't show up the following Tuesday. The owner called me the next day. He had no problem with the $50 increase in pay and they posted a bouncer on stage with me all night. There were two fights in front of the stage that night but the bouncers kept it under control. My stuff didn't get broken. :w

I don't do karaoke to lose money. That night ended up costing me $400. $100 pay, $100 for the broken TV, $100 for a new TV and $100 for a stand that rolls.

It's a bunch of colege students that can get out of hand real quik but it's a weekly event that folks look forward too. My singers have to wait 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours to sing. Most only sing once a night but they have an audience of over 100 people.

I hoping all will be fine but I will only tolerate so much and they pushed me way over the limit letting my TV get busted. We'll see what happens. :r

that happened to me a while back before i started doing karaoke. not with the tv, but with my cordless mics, i was doing a big venue in one of the hotels ,and i got there early so i can set up and do all the sound checks, i didnt know that the people who was hosting the party was there and they brought some kids with them , well 2 of the kids got a hold of my mics and threw it up in the air, needless to say both mics fell apart, so i have to ask the host that they needed to get me 2 new mic or i'll pack up and leave, and i also had them read the contract " that they will be responsible for the action of theire guest" well to make a long story short, i got 2 new mics ($300 ea, had to show them what brand caused they wouldn't believe me that those mics cost that much ) and my usuall $ 75.00 an hr. for 8hrs..haven't heard from those people since:g:g
