You have got me so confused. Work on one computer first and get it straight then deal with the other one. This is not easy without being able to see exactly what you have.
Do you have all your song files (KMA) in one folder? And is that the only folder listed in the Rebuild "Song Source Folders" list?
Does your folder or folders where you have all your KMA files have the right number of files (however many songs you have)?

gotrich February 9th, 2009 05:26 PM

yes

all files are in one folder all are KMA and from what I can tell there are no duplicates.

Now if I do this to pc #2 hit rebuild right?

Are you saying that running Rebuild does not give you any duplicates errors or are you assuming there aren't any?
If you have not run the Rebuild after clearing out the duplicate files do so now.

Forget the second computer till we get this one straightened up.

gotrich February 9th, 2009 07:03 PM

I did

I ran the rebuild it did not say there were duplicates. It says duplicates deleted.

DUPLICATE BOOKIDS DETECTED DURING DB BUILD ON: Mon Feb 09 15:23:01 2009

C:\MTU\Hoster\BuildSongDBLog.txt

BOOKID SONG NAME ARTIST NAME
PATH

52401 Do You Know The Way To San Jose Warwick, Dione
C:\Karaoke\0076-1.kma

52410 Whatd I Say Charles, Ray
C:\Karaoke\0076-10.kma

This is the report it gave me. I deleted anything that said copy of and then rebuilt the database.

ddouglass February 9th, 2009 07:10 PM

Delete the file BuildSongDBLog.txt in the C:\MTU\Hoster folder and run the Rebuild one more time. Then look for that file again to see if there are any more dups.

gotrich February 9th, 2009 07:15 PM

yep

now says 771 duplicates

would book ID
0121-2
and 121-2 be seen as the same? They are not the same song but does hoster think it is?

ddouglass February 9th, 2009 08:44 PM

Yes because Hoster does not use leading zeroes in BookIDs.

ddouglass February 9th, 2009 08:56 PM

Hoster is seeing this one or the other as a duplicate BookID, so it will not add the duplicate to the database.
That many duplicates is going to be a big task to get this straight. There is no easy way to fix this.

gotrich February 10th, 2009 01:23 AM

ok

o what is the method of fixing it.. What if I rename the file.. ?

ddouglass February 10th, 2009 02:22 AM

The file name is NOT the BookID. It is the DiskID, so that would do no good.
Unless you have a back-up copy some where of all the original KMA files, you are going to have to re-import all 771 of them to get the information correct in the header of the kma file.

gotrich February 10th, 2009 02:26 AM

umm

DDoug. or anyone who can help... If you can please call me 219-789-5441

gotrich February 10th, 2009 02:42 AM

I looked at number and I only see 4 cds that I did this on (120-124) also files named (0120-0124)

This is just a suggestion, ( I can not try this myself as I have no Leading Zero book id's to test it on) save a copy of all the duplicates with leading zero's some where completely different, like make a new folder called duplicates just so you have a reference if this does not work. From the edit songs option select multiple, make sure only book ID is highlighted. In the search just type one zero and press search, now it may list any number with a zero in it. Now click on the header bar for book Id and it should list them all in order either oo to 9999 or reversed, if reversed click header once more to make it start from 0. Now highlight all those with leading zero's only and delete them. Now try rebuild songs and see if this corrects the problem or does it again show leading zero's. If the search on zero doesn't work try * which will list all files.

ddouglass February 10th, 2009 12:43 PM

Do you import your songs directly from the CDs or do you import them to the computer by other means (as ZIP or MP3+G) then import into Hoster from the hard drive?
I am having a hard time understanding exactly how you have added these song files as all of your DiskIDs seem to be numbers only instead of the normal ID that Hoster uses which is something like "CB9045" (Chartbuster 9045).
I am going to send you a private message with my email address. When you get it send me an email with copies of the "BuildSongDBLog.txt" and your "Songs.mdb" files attached. From those I think I can figure out exactly what needs to be re-imported. That is if you don't mind me knowing what you have.:s

Roy, I think what he was calling a bookid with leading zero was actually his diskid. Hoster will not use and will not let you put in a bookid with a leading zero. I don't think he used the diskids from Hoster, but created his own.

Roy Dennis February 10th, 2009 01:17 PM

I see what you mean Dale, I was just wondering if by some peculiar error Hoster had created them itself when rebuilding the data base!

I'll leave this one to you Dale :g:)

Thanks:r:w:t

Gotrich I need some information about imports. Did you have the entire disk Music Maestro MM6409 and Music Maestro Standards Club 2 disk 5 imported? If so what BookIDs are they supposed to be?
This is just the first group but it looks like there are a lot more where two disks files are interlinked.
I don't know whether you have gone through and eliminated some of the files from some of the CDs either because they were duplicates or offensive, but your songs database shows a lot of missing songs too.
I have reorganized your log file and will send you a copy in PDF format so you can open and print it. It is sorted by BookID.
The files listed as duplicates are not in the songs database. If you enter the BookID for the ones in the list it will show a totally different song title.

gotrich February 11th, 2009 01:24 AM

i did

I delete songs if i had a sound choice of chartbuster or whatever.. based on customer preference.

This is this big of a mess. I never had this problem till 4.0 hoster. WHY?

Would I be better re importing all 700+ CD's
