MTU could hire and pay a beta team like Adobe does and the program releases would all work well but we would have to pay for this. The price of Hoster could double or tripple, if not more. :e MTU offered all Hoster user the opportunity to buy Hoster at a reduced price. Acting as what you call a "beta tester" is why the discount is given. This fact is never hidden. Testing beta versions of Hoster is more work than you can imagine, it's close to a full time job for me. Saying all of MTU's customers are beta testers is degrading to MTU's volenteer beta team in my opinion. They spend hours of their time (no pay) working with versions that are know to be incomplete because they are in development. A little respect for these guys who helped put Hoster on the map, that's all I'm asking here. I appreciate all of you! I have to test 4.05 which was just realeased for testng, please excuse me. Thanks Again Jim :g |

Hey Jim - you are directing your statements at the wrong person. You will see above that "TheMusicGeek" is the one who said something. The rest of us are just trying to be understanding of how he feels. I think most of us already understand what you are saying. You don't need to defend Beta testers to me. I applaud you all for taking the time & having the patience! :g |

Thanks for engaging in this conversation. You are helping me get my point across and I can't thank you enough. :g This is why participation is needed. :w Jim :g |
Jim I meant no disrespect to you or any beta tester. You as well as many other forum members have helped me on quite a few occasions. I do value the support I receive here. My point was that MTU has released the 4x series of Hoster without enough testing. This makes their customers their beta testers as well as folks like you. The difference is that we paid MTU to tell them what is wrong with their software and you do it for free.
I do admit I am really frustrated with MTU. Their behavior and constant Microsoft bashing is more that of a teenage hacker living in his moms basement than a professional software company. |

MTU offers a unique opportunity for their clients to participate in the development of Hoster. Vista is crap right now, If you had tested these 40 plus betas (not to mention 4.01, 4.02, 4.03 & 4.04) I think you woild be a liitle less critical of MTU's reaction to being forced to make Hoster work on an incomplete operating system. Your opinoins are valuded here and I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to share this informatin with everybody. Let me get off of the board (I've been trying for two hours now :r) and get on with testing 4.05. Jim :g |
I asked because it seems to me that it may be useful for someone who has experienced the problems a few other users have to try the beta .05
I have worked in electronics and one of the hardest faults to find is an intermittent one or one that when the engineer looks at it the fault does not present itself. many testers seem to have 4.04 working correctly so it may not show problems when you upgrade to 4.05 where it may for users like me The larger the test base the better for everyone i am willing to put time and effort into helping getting mtu hoster to work spot on ..not just for me but for all users , i make a living out of hosting karaoke shows so it is very important to me. I did not post the how do you become a beta tester to stir up or start any nastyness only to help and support the great work being done by mtu and all the testers. |

Hey Rob, Every bug that I have seen on the forum potsed by a user, the beta testers have seen as well. The mutitude of issues raised by vista have been overwhelming. MTU programers can only write so fast They are only human. Your offer to help more is appreciated. I just tested 4.05 Beta 1 and it passed all of my tests. Oh, you did nothing wrong. Jim |
