Okey, Thanks

If I recall right, you have two PX 716 drives. I can hardly believe they are both bad. Have you tried using just one drive for reading and writing, then tesing the same with other drive?

I have some other ideas after I hear back from you. In the meantime I will look over the other posts here to make sure I understand what is going on.

ASAYAS104 April 12th, 2009 03:24 PM

Yes I have two plextor drives, I did perform on a single drive with a read and write and it doesn't work, same with the second one.

It seems to me that you said you have not used Microstudio for a long time and it used to work fine. In the meantime you are burning DVD's OK. Sometimes I know that Roxio will act up with Microstudio.

Do you still have your microstudio set up exe file? If so, I would suggest you uninstall microstudio using Conrol Panel. Reboot, then re-install MS and reboot again.

What version of MS are you using and what OS are you using?

ASAYAS104 April 13th, 2009 12:35 AM

I have XP and Microstudio at 4.006a. I have been using microstudio a lot for my CD-G projects but, it's surprising that it stopped working.

You have the best version of MS and it works great with XP. In record settings in tools (MS), is the correct sound card selected?

Do as I suggested. Uninstall and reinstall MS. You have a setting or link missing.. Again, check the sound card setting. Additionally, be certain all of your drivers for video, sound and motherboard are the most current.

Last resort uninstall Roxio. OK, now I'm out of ideas.. but if you have done all of that it should be working..

open up MS and go to tools and click on default drive, see if it says
read /write -yes

ASAYAS104 April 13th, 2009 01:58 PM

I checked and I get both a yes on read and write on both of my plextor drives.

I did a reinstall of Microstudio and tried to burn a CD-G it still doesn't work, the error says user abort error and error burning disc when it hits at 20% burn.

I removed the roxio program no change still the same errors in Microstudio

You have a very unusual issue going on. You will need to go to customer support at Miscrostudio. Referrence all the hot links in this thread.

marklwood April 13th, 2009 05:27 PM

Roxio has a known issue with no playing nice with other programs. If that was the case, this link should fix it. If not, it won't hurt anything. Re-install Microstudio after you try this fix.

try to make a copy ( duplicate ) of any of your cdg's, if that still doesn't work, i guess it's time to get a new one..

ASAYAS104 April 13th, 2009 11:51 PM

After applying the fix that Marklwood provided, microstudio started working again but, the microstudio has the @ symbol next to the drive and there is only one selection of drives that appears and my second drive isn't an option. After I reinstall the microstudio the drive letters appear again but, then it doesn't work again. It seems the fix works but limits me to a single drive and making the second drive unavailable.

This is with Microstudio not reinstalled after the fix was applied:
The first CDG burn works

I made a second cdg disc that failed I was watching the drive burn the disc but, it made no disc spinning sound during the process which completed to 100 percent with distorted lyrics.

I made a third disc I heard a spinning sound so I believe its a 100% okay but, now doesn't want to eject itself out and it's stuck doesn't come out even though I press the eject button. The discs songs were distorted as well.

You need to reinstall WinXP using Repair mode..

marklwood April 14th, 2009 03:01 AM

You could go to hardware profiles and delete the 2 drives and then let Windows re-install them before you re-install Windows to see if that will fix it.

Roxio is probably involved with part of this. It's been a thorn in our support for years! :f :r

However, I am theorizing here... that a DVD doesn't take as much power to the writing laser as a CDR disc does. If not, the laser would overhead writing 4GB versus 0.8GB of "data pits" on the media.

This would explain why the write laser can burn a DVD but not a CDR. The fact that (from an earlier post) Windows Media won't burn an audio disc (takes the same power since it uses a CDR disc), tends to confirm my theory.

How much time do you want to spend? If your Windows is farkled, you'll need to reformat and reinstall. If not... BEFORE you reformat, download Microstudio 4.08 (released this past Monday) and UPGRADE or REMOVE 4.006 and then install 4.20. You can then REMOVE 4.20 and your RegCode Record in our Database is removed from this computer. You are then clear to install it on the new REFORMATTED HDD or on another computer without MTU's help.

ASAYAS104 April 24th, 2009 01:59 AM

Yes my windows just started acting up after all the test that I ran through. So I didn't have a chance to remove all the MTU programs and did a complete reinstall on my computer. Now it's telling me that I can't install on the newly rebooted computer. So I can't take directions #2 on installing without help. Thanks.

You will need to submit a support ticket to get you registrations reset. I know you don't want to hear that, but unfortunately that is the only way to get it done.
