Hi,

I have just downloaded the trial version of microstudio to see if my hardware will work with it and microstudio did not recognize my plextor cd writer (it's a little on the old side (plexwriter 12/10/32a)).

i saw a post that you two had about "update your ASPI drivers" i went there but could not complete the download because i don't have an mtu.com email address or serial number.

could you suggest a fix for me so that i can be sure the software will work with the system i have before i buy it?

Update to the Solution #2 and try the Adaptec Drivers, they will do the same as the MTU drivers. Lets see if that will help.

Does you drive show up at all? Even stating No?

thanks for the super fast reply. i hit the button for find drives and nothing showed up.

hope i did that right. did it under play and i think import . (i''m at work so i don't have the program in front of me)

Yes, you did it correct by hitting the Detect Drives button. It should show the Plextor drive under the Reading drives pull down list for sure.

I would definetly try the Adaptec drivers, this should fix it. Let me know if this does or doesn't work for you.

didn't work. after hitting detect drives, still no drives shown.

Did you make sure that you went into the Drives Menu, ASPI Drivers and make the change there? If you didn't then its not taking the new Adaptec ASPI drivers. Here is what needs to be done:

Open Microstudio. Click on the Drives menu at the top. Click on ASPI Drivers. Change this to Use the default driver. Click OK. Close Microstudio, then Reopen Microstudio.

it worked!

i was able to play a song on the computer. next, does that mean it will definitly let me make backups of my cd+g's?

then, how can i be sure that my karaoke machine will play cd-r's and recognize the graphics?

my daughter has a Craig cg8227.

You will just need to try to burn a disc and then take it and play it in the Karaoke Machine to make sure that yours will play the discs. You should have no problems, but always try it before you make very many.

Many of the lower cost (i.e. low reflective coating) CDR discs will NOT read properly in some CDG players. Don't want to sound commercial, but the MTU Silver CDR discs are the ideal media for CDG players.

Also, do NOT use a CDRW disc. There are very few CDG players that will even read this media. ONLY USE CDR media! :e
