I upgraded to MicroStudio 2.4 a couple of months ago and have been thrilled with the performance of the program....however, as of today, I keep getting an error message when wanting to write onto a CD...Error:'WRITE' command failed on device 0:1:0
Read/Write Error or bad medium detected
04h ooh 02h 03h 0Ch 07h
I have not changed brands of media....I have Windows 98, a Plextor 40/12/40A, I have DirectX 9.0, I'm using the MTU installed drivers.
Could someone please help me out with this problem, I've been using MicroStudio for several years and have never had this problem before.

I'm having the same problem you are! Hope we can get this resolved... my post is at the top "Plexwriter not working".
If you come up with any solutions, let me know... I'll do likewise...

Does your drive work with other programs, i.e. EZCD creator or the like?

Silverea,

You've not said what brand you are using, just that you've not changed media.

If the problem is in burning cdg's, it is hard to rule out the media unless you are using a top brand like Mitsui. Here's why I say that.

Many of the nationaly known brands do not make their own media, but have it made for them. If demand exceeds supply, they are sometimes forced to seek more than one manufacturer, or may even have to rely on more than one manufacturer to meet their demands. Thus, although the media may have the same label on it, performance may not necessarily be the same, where cdg is concerned.

If you get this same message trying to burn just plain audio files, what I said probably will not have any bearing, but I think it would help to be able to rule out the media for certain.

Ever since I started buying and using the MTU CDG's, I no longer get the error messages....using the MTU CDG's is the best move I've ever made...I had a problem using my backup CDG's in the JVC players, but not any longer

I'm not sure if the media would be the reason?

I own a Yamaha burner and I burn cdgs on Maxell Pro, Fuji and TDK and I'm getting the exact same graphic that I have in my hard drive.

I do have sometime broken letters but that's because of the Yamaha burner. I've notice that when I have broken letters it's only in the middle or at the end of the song.

I wish I could try the Mitsui brand but I can't find any in my region and I can't import from MTU.

Silverea,
I would first try to enable your antivirus and any other program that are running before burning. If you choose Fuji or TDK (Made in Japan) I don't see why you would get this error.

I must of burn at least 80 cd's and never had one reject.

Good Luck

Silverea,

The problem no longer exists then?

No, I no longer get the error messages.....the only problem I have now, is that after every three burns I have to restart my computer...my drives are hoyle along with everything else I've read about, but I still have to restart after I make three CDG copies

Silverea,

There was a similar problem ecnountered a while back with 98/98SE that turned out to be a driver problem. I think the solution may be in this thread.

http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1161

As I recall you had to change from MTU drivers to default drivers.

I thought when I upgraded to 2.40 that I was to use the MicroStudio drivers, is this not so?

Not so certain about that where 98 is concerned. If the fix doesn't work, you can change back easily enough.

About 90% of all computers allow the MTU driver to work, but there are some that must still use the Adaptec driver.

I am getting the same error message:

Erro: 'Write' command failed on device 1:0:0 Read/Write error or bad medium detected (04h 00h 02h 03h 0ch 09h)

I have the Plexor drive and use MTU cd's. I read the responses and I did not see a solution.

PLEASE HELP
