1. Download Kpro 4.0 and KproID.exe.
2. Purchased recommended USB Linksys EtherFast 10/100 Compact USB Network Adapter.
3. Installed USB Device in USB Port.
4. Win98Se said found new hardware.
5. Directed to CD rom to install drivers.
6. Appeared Drivers installed.
7. Got command to put in Win98 CD.
8. Looks like some drivers were installed from Win98 CD.
9. Re-started Computer.
10. In My Computer, under NETWORK ADAPTERS, HAVE AN EXPLAINATION MARK BY THE USB ETHERNET CARD.
11. When I click on update drivers and direct to CD rom, says best drivers already installed.
12. When I run KproID.exe, no devices found.

13. ANY IDEAS OUT THERE?

P.S. Since I installed the USB Ethernet Device, my Fireware BlackIce isn't working, have had to temp disable.

Don't know if your answer is here or not, but went to the LINKSYS website and found this support page which talks about downloading driver for the product. May be worth a shot.

When you go in through the device manager and check properties does it say the device is or isn't working properly?
Just brainstorming.

George..........
Per suggestion of LinkSys Help.......

1. Went to Windows Help and looked up ASD.
2. Ran ASD
3. Re-Started Computer
4. Device Manager NOW shows USB Ethernet Device is install properly.

5. BUT when I run KproID.exe, says no Device Present.

George........finally got it working.

1. Even though the device manager said the USB Ethernet was installed, it is ONLY the Device's Driver, you have to "CONFIGURE" THE USB ETHERNET DEVICE.

2. Had to go to the Control Panel, Network Icon.
3. Had to Click on USB Ethernet and "Add"
4. Then had to "add" Microsoft Netware Networks.
5. Then had to "add" USB Ethernet Dial-Up Adapter.
6. Then had to "add" USB Ethernet TCP/IP Adapter.
7. Then called for certain Win98 CD Rom Files.
8. Then re-booted the Computer.
9. Ran KProID.exe and it now found the USB Ethernet Device (MACID) code.
10. Sent request to MTU for Serial Number.
