Friday night i sat up my gear, ran a system test, only to discover my notebook cooling pad wasn't working.... I've had that pad since going hoster for my show. I'll miss it. My lappy ran right along for the whole show without a glinch.. but i believe in coolers. Any suggestions for a new pad? What's everyone using?? Here is one i'm looking at very closely. Has 98 user reviews, 99% positive. I want a good one no walmart stuff please...:f

i quit using those cooling pads.especialy the ones that you have to plug into your usb ports.i've been using just a regular small size portable fan.just prop the laptop a little bit and point the fan towards the laptop....

I also quit using a USB fan. I have a small "clip on" fan that clips to my table.

I use a Rolodex mesh stand that raises my laptop up...

Thanks guy's for your suggestions, you guys are great. I prefer a cooling pad, because they store so much easier then a fan. And i really don't have the room on my table for a small fan. My last cooling pad worked off a wall wart. I never plug anything into my lappy, to power something. Bad idea. I have enough stuff in front of me now. On my table i have a table top EQ, a short mic stand & mic, a mute switch by Rolls, my lappy, my mouse pad & mouse, my table top cd player, and other assorted goodies. So unless i hear other suggestions, i guess i'll try the one on amazon. If i don't like it, i can always return it. Thanks much for the suggestions George

George,
I use a cooling pad that is an aluminum model, and is usb powered, and I do plug it into my laptop for power... I purchased this particular model because it had an extra usb connection, and my previous laptop had 3 usb ports, and the extra port on the cooling pad came in handy! I don't recall the model off the top of my head, but at tonights show, I'll copy it down and give it to you tomorrow. It came from Tiger direct and was about $30 two years ago... not had any problems with it and it stores in my carrying case with my backup laptop on top of it, which gives the soft sided carrying case a little more stability without much weight... but mostly it was the extra usb port that attracted me to this model of cooling pad/stand. Model and brand will be forthcoming tomorrow.

George,

I had to run out to the van for my external disc drive, so I looked at the model of my cooling fan also... it is a Chinese made Bytecc with no model# but I found a picture of it in Newegg catalog ( Looks like they are discontinuing the brand or model )... sorry I couldn't help you!

This is the one i've used for the last couple years.

Worked like a champ in a couple 8 hour outdoor shows in 90+ degree days. The laptop fan didn't ever engage into it's high gear mode.

Thanks for the suggestions, those are both great looking units. Both look like they are built like a tank. I think i would like the aluminium ones like you guys have over the plastic that stopped working on me. Thanks again for the help
