View Full Version : Singers Database Problem...

Last night I had a problem when opening "my" Singers Database.

I have 290 songs in my personal database and when I opened it one time last night to pick "me" out a song to sing, the Singers screen on the monitor froze for ~3-4 seconds. Fortunately the Singer knew the song and never missed a beat. The music never hesitated.

After my database loaded, the screen returned to the song at the proper place in the song.

One night prior to this, I saw it flicker but not freeze.

Has anyone else had problems with this?

With that many songs in your database for you I am not surprised. This is known and has been worked on though with that many I would not say for sure that it could be speeded up that much. To get around this keep the database open during the show and slide it down out of the way when you aren't using it or only open it between songs. This is what we do.

Dale,

When you say slide it down out of the way, do you mean "minimize" the Singers Database?"

I use it regularly for my Singers, so sliding it down (or minimizing it) is not an option. The next highest Singer list one guy that has 73 in his file and I have not had a problem with his file...

Now that you've told me that, I'm considering splitting my file into two parts (i.e., KOD A-L ; KOD M-Z) but don't know how many songs in a file is acceptable.

By sliding I mean grab the top of the window and drag it down where all you see is the top above the task bar. Pull it up when you need it and lower it when you are not using it.

Dale,

I don't understand how this will help. Does dragging it below the Task Bar use less resources to load the files?

I often have to change from Singer file to Singer file during the show, so I would be dragging it up and down constantly.

By not having to open and close it all the time yes it does use less resources.
Lowering your number in the list to less than 200 would help too.

:fDale

I never close the Singers Database or the Song Search Database anytime during my show. They are always open for quick reference.

It's only when I open my file (w/290 songs) that the problem occurs. That's why I'm now considering splitting my file into two parts... :f

Splitting will help. I would limit them down to 150 each (in case you add some more).
